Build an employee maintenance mini project in Blazor, with a home page listing employees, add/edit forms, client-side validation for name, hire date, address, and salary, and delete confirmation.
Dave Koppe introduces himself as your instructor, highlights 25+ years of experience, shares contact and portfolio details, and invites you to get started.
Download and install Visual Studio 2026 Community edition, focus on ASP.NET and web development, with optional .NET MAUI tooling on Windows.
Install Visual Studio 2026, modify the setup to add components and apply updates, and launch Visual Studio Insiders. Create a new project and continue tutorials on Windows 11.
Download and install SQL Server Express 2022, note the connection string and server name localhost/sqlexpress, then install SQL Server Management Studio 21 and connect to create a new database.
Launch Visual Studio Insiders, create a Blazor web app with .NET 10 preview, configure a default SQL connection using trusted server certificate, and prepare appsettings.json for next steps.
Explore the default Blazor template with a counter and weather page, see how render mode interactive server enables interactivity, and review routing like localhost/counter and dummy weather data.
Set up a data, models, and repository folder structure and define an employee model with id, full name, hire date, address, salary, information, and status to prepare for Entity Framework.
Create validation attributes and field criteria using data annotations to enforce required fields, max length, and range. Configure identity keys, varchar max, and nullable fields for code-first EF migrations.
Install the entity framework core packages and tools. Create an employee db context with a dbset and configure it in program.cs via a db context factory for sql server.
Use code first migrations with NuGet to add migrations and update the database, creating the employees table in SQL Server, and verify the schema with SQL Server Management Studio.
Implement a generic repository pattern with an interface and concrete class using entity framework core. Perform add, delete, get all, get by id, and update async operations via dependency injection.
Register the repository via dependency injection by adding the repository interface and its implementation in the program, using builder.Services add scopes, to prevent setup errors.
Download Font Awesome 7 and place the files in the www root, then self-host or host via script by embedding the kit in app.razor and referencing the css files.
Create a reusable Razor component in Blazor that injects a repository and loads all employees, then display them in a striped Bootstrap table on the home page.
Learn to build employee add and edit functionality with Microsoft Blazor, .NET 10, and Entity Framework, applying C# to implement CRUD operations in a data-driven app.
Create a Razor component for employee display that loads by id, uses a JavaScript runtime for client-side confirmation, and offers a display-only view with a delete option and navigation back.
Learn how to self-host Font Awesome in a Blazor project by adding the CSS files and web fonts to wwwroot, merging the library, and loading brands and solid icons.
Learn to implement a confirm delete modal as a reusable shared component and communicate from child to parent to control visibility with a Bootstrap backdrop.
Remove the counter and weather links from the nav menu in the layout to finish the navigation setup, leaving only the home link in the Blazor app.
Register on Syncfusion and integrate its components into a Blazor project using .NET 10, leveraging Entity Framework and CRUD workflows in C#.
Interested in learning Microsoft Blazor with Entity Framework Core, Code First Migrations, C#, and basic web development? I'll walk you through a real-world example on how I would develop an Employee Maintenance Application using Microsoft Blazor, Entity Framework, C#, Font Awesome, and Bootstrap.
I have over 25+ years' experience building Websites and I want to teach you how I would build an Employee Maintenance Website. I start from a completely blank project and build upon it throughout the course.
The course starts off with an introduction, and you'll install Visual Studio 2026, SQL Express, and SQL Server Management Studios. We then move on to architecture on how I would layout the project. We'll go through code-first Migration. Last is to add the HTML Blazor pages with a basic UI.
I plan on adding onto the course with additional functionality, so you get a lifetime access to an evolving project. Feel free to contact me with any feedback, thoughts, questions, or anything you would like to see added to the course! I want all students learn how to be professional web developers with my teaching!
This is my first course that I put together so I'll only improve it as time goes on and with your help by providing my feedback!
