
Learn Indian Classical Raagas ( Basic to Advanced )
Welcome . In this course I will be teaching 25 different Raagas belonging to the North Indian or Hindustani Style of Music. Please Note that this is different from South Indian or Carnatic Style of music.
The course will be divided into 5 Phases . there will be 5 Raagas in each Phase and the complexity of the Ragaas will increase as you pass from phase to phase.
The lessons shall be presented in Chota Khayal format: a stlye of singing or performing in the case of instrumentalists which is very popular in modern times. Normally each raga would take a few months to be familiar with and even years to master.
Phase 1: BHOOPALI, YAMAN, BHAIRAV, BHAIRAVI,DURGA
Phase 2: KAFI, Khamaj, BHIMPALASI, ASAVARI, DESH
Phase 3: DARBARI, KEDAR, BIHAG, LALIT, BAGESHRI
Phase 4: MADHUVANTI, BILASKHANI TODI, GUJRI TODI,
BHATIYAR , AHIR BHAIRAV
Phase 5: GUNKALI, MIYA MALHAR, MULTANI,
NAT BHAIRAV, HAMSADHWANI

The lessons shall be presented in Chota Khayal format: a stlye of singing or performing (in the case of instrumentalists) which is very popular in modern times. The lessons begin with Aaroha- Avaroha and Pakad followed by a composition or Bandish in Teen Taal beat or Dadra. The Stai and Antara is followed by Alaap and Taan.
Students will be required to have a basic knowledge of Swaras and terminologies in Indian Music. Preferably student who have undergone the course Riyaz with me will find this course easy to follow.
Normally each raga would take a few months to be familiar with and even years to master.
