Serbo-Croatian (Montenegrin, Bosnian) orthography is phonemic which means that one grapheme corresponds to one spoken sound (phoneme). The golden rule of Serbo-Croatian orthography is “write as you speak and read as it is written”.

Description

This course is designed for beginners, it means for those  who would like to start learning and speaking Serbian/Croatian/ Bosnian or Montenegrin language. The course  is made up of four sections covering different grammatical and topical areas and with specific reference to the culture of the region where this language is spoken. Also each section contains specific grammatical subsections with corresponding exercises, quizzes and assignments. Upon completion of this course you should be able to greet somebody, to present yourself and others, express your likes and dislikes, to describe someone or something and to report about present, past and future activities. Also you should be able to maintain simple but grammatically correct communication. What differentiate this course from another belonging to the same beginner level group is that is made in two alphabets, Cyrillic and Latin, so that you can equally well learn how to read and write in both of them. Cyrillic is used in Serbia, Latin in Croatia whereas both of them in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The most tricky part of Serbian/Croatian grammar are cases. There are seven of them to be learnt and their system is quite complicated. It can be really frustrating coping with them. All cases are inevitable in order for one to be intelligible. Also this course covers up conjugation, present tense, past tense and future tense as well as reflexive verbs and adjectives. Learning a new language is time consuming and one should really put effort in doing it but in the same time it is one of the most rewarding efforts. This course is AI powered so that one can practice speaking and writing skills. Good luck and have a great fun!
