Course content

1 section7 lectures7h 20m total length
  • The Music54:58

In this lecture we demonstrate how to write suitable music for the vocal we have imported, we write the bassline melody, the chords, and main lead melody. We also add compression and eq to the vocal to make it consistent in dynamics so it cuts through the mix and can be heard clearly at all times.

  • The kick & Bass59:10

In this lecture we create a bass sound, demonstrate how to layer it to make the bass massive. We also show an industry secret on how to choose the perfect kick drum for your track using a spectrum analyser, eliminating the need to sculpt the low end with eq to define the kick and bass.

  • Making the breakdown & Arranging the intro1:06:09

In this lecture we demonstrate how to make the main breakdown by adding and processing an arp, a pad, a reese bass and proper use of filters to smooth the transitions out. We also demonstrate how to arrange the intro by adding a pitchy energetic synth and then transitioning it to an offbeat to progress into the breakdown.

  • The leads, The Support Chords, The Build Up & The Drop.1:13:18

in this lecture we demonstrate how to choose lead sounds not only to fill up the frequency spectrum, but also the stereo image. We also demonstrate how to add wide support chords to the lead to make the synth sound huge which we process with eq, delay, reverb, multiband compression, more eq, clipping, and finally sidechain. This enables us to have the synths at maximum fatness but still have the kick punching clearly through the mix. We also demonstrate how to make the build up and the drop.

  • Cymbals, Percussion, Sweeps, Fills, Ear Candy1:23:43

In this lecture we demonstrate how to choose suitable cymbals and percussion for the track, how to eq them and how to get them sounding huge and properly fill out the high end of the frequency spectrum. We also demonstrate how to make ear candy like sweeps and fills and effectively implement them into the track.

  • Structure & Final Mixing Decisions1:12:52

In this lecture we demonstrate how to arrange the rest of the structure and make somefinal critical mixing decisons.

  • Mastering30:41

In this final lecture we demonstrate how to master the track by applying eq to cut out the extreme lows that define the low end of the track and make it extra punchy, we add some glue compression to make it sound like an actual song rather than a bunch of sounds stacked on top of each other, we balance the frequencies to make the song translate to other sound systems, finally we clip and limit the track using visual analysers to reach competitive loudness.

Description

Learn how to create a UK/Happy Hardcore track with the one and only Rescue!

Rescue shows his hit making recipe from start to finish! This man has been in the industry for over 15 years, has toured all over the uk, released albums and even been flown to ibiza to perform internationally!

This course has relied heavily on presets from nexus as Rescue wanted to keep the course as simple as possible, synthesis would be too overwhelming for newer producers and, as shown in the course, is not needed! The course has been done in Ableton Live 11 but the processes demonstrated will translate to any DAW, the vst plugins used will be listed but again, these processes can be done with stock plugins or plugins you already own.

Included in the course:

Writing chords

Writing the bassline

Writing the main melody

Processing the vocal

Making a bass sound from scratch

Layering the bass

Using frequency analysers tp pick the perfect kick drum for the track

Choosing lead sounds to fill the frequency spectrum & the stereo image

Layering & processing lead sounds to sound huge

Layering in support chords behind the lead to make it sound even bigger
