"Navraj, 20 yrs old college going student hero of my story is in a positive mood, observed that residents of his society are not following instructions of government during the lockdown period due to pandemic COVID-19. He met President of RWA, instantly organized the meeting of all members, discussed the issue. He took initiative, arranged pamphlets on his personal computer and issue guidelines of precautions, social distancing, improved living style, hand washing techniques and use of sanitizers. With the help of a Resident doctor and a team of govt dispensary arranged family checkup of resident with proper social distancing and also keep a record of it for further comparison. He with the help of other residents ensured the timely proper supply of eatables & groceries to doorsteps of the residents. He also motivated children to lean online courses about any interesting subjects or personality development during such a lockdown period. He also suggested and maintained a record of new entries of the residents of the society to keep watch and monitor their health records. He is very happy and satisfied with his efforts as there is zero infected case in his society.

Group Planning Exercise consists of situational problems given to candidates on a model. The problems afford a selection of possible solutions and different ways of approach. This task is carried out in two phases:-
a. The individual planning phases, when each candidate is required to write down his own solution to the problem.
b. The group planning phase when the candidates mutually discuss the problem and to work out agreed group solution.
In this task the GTO observes the following in the candidates:-
(a) Ability to think constructively and imaginatively.
(b) Ability to deal with the situation both individually or as a whole.
(c) Planning and organizing ability.
(d) Open-mindedness towards the problem and its solution.
(e) Contribution towards the collective solution.
(f) Ability to convince, cooperate, and coordinate the group.
BRIEFING OF PROGRESSIVE GROUP TASK
1. The Progressive Group Task consists of a set of 4 obstacles which are progressive in nature.
2. The first obstacle of this task is very, very, very simple.
3. The second obstacle is very, very simple.
4. The third obstacle is very simple.
5. The fourth and last obstacle is absolutely simple.
6. In the absence of natural obstacles like rivers and nalas in the SSB, they draw a start line and finish line of white bricks.
7. In the area between the start line and the finish line is placed out of bounds for the candidate.
8. In this, out of the bound area, some structures are placed.
9. To help you in crossing the distance from the start line to the finish line. You are then provided with helping material in the form of a ballis, planks, ropes and small pieces of wood.
10. To add to you difficulties a Black Box called the load is also provided to you.
11. Every game has its rules hence this tasks also have some rules, listen to these rules carefully as the GTO will speak out these rules only once before these rules will be used in all the outdoor tasks.
RULES OF PROGRESSIVE GROUP TASK
GROUP RULE
Group Rule means all the candidates with the helping material and the load must cross the first obstacle before you go to the second obstacle.
DISTANCE RULE
Any distance which is vertically, horizontally or diagonally four feet or more you cannot jump that distance.
NOTE:
The word “Jump” is banned for you, only monkeys are jumping, nobody should say that “I will Jump the distance”.
Each one of you must have a very good idea of four feet’s and three feet’s.
Give Idea, project Idea, accept the idea and implement the idea.
RULE FOR INFINITY
The Start Line and the Finish Line those mark by ten to twelve feet extends up to infinity.
RULE FOR HELPING MATERIAL
1. Two solid helping material (i.e. planks, ballis etc) cannot be tied together – Not allowed.
2. However, one solid helping material can be placed on another solid helping material.
3. A solid helping material can be placed or tied to any structure which is white in colour.
4. Rope can be tied to a Single, solid helping material.
5. A rope can be tied to any structure which is white in colour.
7. A rope can be coiled into a bundle and placed on any structure which is white in colour.
RULE FOR COLOUR
These are four colours in the SSB, these colours are White, Red, Green/Yellow/Blue and Black.
WHITE: This colour signifies peace in life hence it is totally inbounds for the candidate, the helping material and the load.
RED: This colour signifies danger in life hence it is totally out-of-bounds for the candidate, the helping material and the load.
GREED/YELLOW/BLUE:
(a) You will find one of these three colours in the SSB.
(b) In Air Force, Bhopal and Bangalore you will find Blue colour.
(c) In Allahabad, you will get Green and Yellow.
The rule for all three colours is the same. The rule says that these colours are in bounds for the candidate only. These are out of bound for the helping material and the load.
BLACK: This colour will always be found at the ground level, it has no significance of its own and it will assume the colour immediate above it.
RULE FOR LOAD
The load whenever provided will be treated like a baby/TV/Computer or you can say a very sensitive thing.
NOTE: Do not get involved with the load as it is provided to satisfy the physical need of the candidates like “Pahelwans” who are physically strong but mentally week.
RULE FOR ONE TIME MOBILE DRUM
The one-time mobile drum may or may not be provided to you.
It can be placed anywhere at the Start Line, Middle or Finish Line of any of these obstacles.
Whenever it is placed the GTO will clearly explain its location and use to you.
The rule says that it can be picked and placed in the out of bound area only once.
Whenever it is placed it will be considered as fixed and it cannot be moved thereafter.
Once the task is over. You must leave as it is unless the GTO asks you to keep it back in its original position.
However, to pick it up and place it in the out-of-bounds area, you have to use the above rules.
RULE FOR BREAKING RULE
While you working if you happened to break the rule there is no need to worry the rule says you must get back to the point from where you started before you broke the rule.
DEMONSTRATION
1. The GTO will then take you around and show you all the obstacles.
2. He will explain every structure to you.
3. He will then ask you as to how much time you need to do these four obstacles.
4. He will then ask you to run to the Start Line, pickup the helping material and start the task.
5. He will then gently seat down on his chair and observe you in doing the tasks.
6. He will not speak to you unless you do something stupid or non-sense.
7. The progressive group task is leaderless, nobody is detailed as a leader. The leader will automatically emerge by his intelligence, behaviour or performance.
8. As far as possible you must come forward and demonstrate your Ideas.
9. However, do not fight with others.
10. If you are unable to come forward then you can GIVE your Idea from wherever you standing.
11. Each obstacle will have three approaches, one from the centre (middle), one from the right and one from the left.
12. Always attack from the centre approach.
The following are the briefings of the GTO in Real GTO test Series:-

12. Once your friends come do the small briefing as follows: -
“Friends, this is our task, this is our Start Line (explain the start line) and that is Finish Line (explain finish line) and these are helping materials (explain helping material i.e. plank, balli, fatta, rope etc), rules you all know, let's start”.
13. As Commander give clear orders.
14. As Commander, you must work.
15. As Commander, you must give workable ideas.
16. As Commander always remain in a position from where you can exercise control over your subordinates (means at picket position or in middle of the task).

ROLE OF SUBORDINATE
1. As Subordinate you are also under observation.

6. Leave an impression of being a worthy Subordinate.
IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF COMMAND TASK
1. Command Task is one of the tasks of the GTO series, give it its due respect but do not give it to much importance.
2. Every candidate will get a different command task, the command task will be pre-selected based on the performance of the candidate in the first seven tasks i.e. Group Discussion to Lecturatte.
3. A good candidate who is going to pass will be given a difficult command task and the GTO will spend more time with him.
4. A candidate who is Border Line will be given an average command task, the GTO will ask him for more and more ideas. If the candidate does well he has a fair chance of selection.
5. A week candidate will be given a very easy task and the GTO will hardly spend any time with him.
6. Indication of success, if the GTO gives you a difficult task and spends a lot of time with you, it means you are going to make the grade.
