  • Concept of The Principles of Tangency22:06

This tutorial will introduce you to the concept of the Principles of Tangency as used in Technical and Engineering Drawings. You will master the simple rules that are used to construct any kind of object when using the Principles of Tangency. Simple illustrations will broaden your understanding of the topic as treated here, and you can use them anywhere in the world to solve problems.

  • Simple Application of The Principles of Tangency11:20

This lecture will show you a step-wise method used when working with principles of tangency. You will encounter the simple and easy-to-understand rules that guide technicians through successful completion of drawing done by using the Principles of Tangency

  • Construction of a Machine Bracket I13:12

This lecture will deepen your ability to use the principles of tangency to construct machine parts. You will find out that the rules guiding the step used in Principles of Tangency are getting easier as you watch this tutorial video.

  • Construction of a Machine Bracket II9:31

This tutorial video is designed to refine your skills in the use of the Principles of Tangency to draw objects. Here, you will witness how to construct another machine bracket with a more intuitive property. This tutorial will remove any other imperfection you may still have in the use of the Principles of Tangency.

  • The Construction of a Workshop Handtool - Spanner23:46

This tutorial brings you a state of mastery of Principles of Tangency, where you can construct anything: handtools, machine parts, and any type of drawing problem that comes under this topic in machine drawing or Technical Drawing. You will see how a spanner is carefully constructed. At the end of these tutorials, You should be able to attempt all the questions given to you in the resource fields.

Requirements

  • Be able to use mathematical set and drawing tools

Description

Principles of Tangency is a topic in Technical or Engineering Drawing. As a student in a secondary school or any tertiary institution, you acquire the skills needed to construct such things as some machine parts, workshop hand tools, and other technical objects that are drawn by using a combination of circles, arcs, and straight lines.

In this course, the method of teaching is so simple that you will learn the skill very easily with little or no aid; and you can apply it immediately on the assignment that is given to you at the end of the tutorial video. It is a very exciting course for those who are passionate about technical or engineering drawing.

To successfully construct any object by using the Principles of Tangency, you will have to follow four simple steps. These steps are outlined as follows:

1. Identify and draw all the center lines you can see in the given problem.

2. Identify all the circles you see in the given problem and carefully construct them by using the given diameters

3. Identify all the curves you can see in the given problem, and by using the Principles of Tangency, carefully locate their starting points and ending points by iteration methods, ie. guessing them as illustrated in the tutorial. And lastly,

4. Identify all the straight lines that are in the given problem and carefully construct them to join the rest of the curves and circles tangentially.

The tutorial videos demonstrate all these steps using clear and simple steps so that even the person who has little or no knowledge of the Principles of Tangency can easily understand it and at the comfort of his room, do what he or she was taught with little assistance.

Who this course is for:

  • SSCE, NECO, Technical and Engineering Drawing students in secondary, higher schools, and universities
