Description

Canva is the new publisher. It is a tool that can make anything you need. What is even better is that it can be used in your classroom. The instructor can use Canva to create products, and the students can use Canva to create products, as well. In this course, you will learn all the basics of using Canva in the classroom. First, you will be shown how to log into/sign up with Canva for education. You can use Google, Facebook, or an email to sign up. It is free to sign up. Then you will be shown different products you can create with Canva to use in your classroom. It is not just posters that you can make, but you can create Google Classroom headers, lesson plans, flashcards, brochures, advertisements, Facebook event covers, and more. Next, you will learn how to create a poster. You will be shown how to add text, images, and upload your own images. You will then create a poster. Finally, you will learn how to share it and download it. You will see how easy it is to share your poster with others, and how easy it is to download the poster as PNG, JPG, or PDF.

Howdy, my name is Brittni Knebel Kalich. I am an instructional technology specialist for Brenham ISD full-time, and I teach at Blinn College part-time. I am currently working on my doctorate degree for Educational Technology in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I have been a teacher at middle school, a librarian at the elementary campuses, a teacher for Sunday School, an online Educational Testing Services (ETS) rater and scoring leader, and a part-time adjunct professor. I currently serve as the instructional technology specialist for the high school campus, central office campus, and alternative campus; I hold a Google for Education Level 1, 2, & Trainer Certification.

I have given training to educators on the use of Canva. I have also used Canva in my classroom and in classrooms with other teachers. I have seen Canva used in many ways in the classroom. Some teachers have used it as a one-pager assignment, some teachers have used it as a timeline project, some teachers have used it as a platform to make invitations, and some teachers have used it as a presentation tool to present information. Another teacher used to make informational brochures based on the unit they just studied.
