  • Welcome and What You’ll Learn3:11

Hallo en welkom bij Dutch at Work.

This course is here to help you start using Dutch in real workplace situations, not just in theory, but in meetings, informal chats, and day-to-day communication at work.

You will learn useful Dutch for office-related contexts, even if you’re just starting out.
You don’t need perfect grammar, just the confidence to begin.

This course is structured around five practical modules.

In Module 1, you’ll learn how to greet colleagues, introduce yourself, and make small talk,  all in Dutch.

Module 2 covers essential office communication: asking and answering questions, making polite requests, and talking about tools, jobs, and tasks.

In Module 3, we focus on participating in meetings : speaking up, asking for clarification, sharing your opinion, and ending conversations.

Module 4 teaches you how to write clear and polite emails, as well as short messages for platforms like Slack or Teams.

And finally, in Module 5, we look at how to make and handle work calls: answering the phone, leaving a message, and scheduling appointments, all in Dutch.

Let me also tell you a bit more about the lesson methodology :

Every lesson starts with a real workplace conversation,  something you might hear in a meeting, hallway chat, or team check-in.

Then we build your vocabulary using a Quick Vocabulary Builder, followed by a Vocabulary Summary with pronunciation tips, so you sound more natural.
You’ll also get a chance to Speak Out, repeating key phrases out loud to build confidence.

When it’s helpful, we include short language insights, grammar support, and practice activities to help everything click.

And throughout the course, you’ll find Cultural Insights,  so you don’t just speak Dutch, but also communicate in a way that fits the Dutch workplace.

You’re not just memorizing,  you’re learning to listen, speak, and apply Dutch in realistic settings.

This approach is based on the Dutch Communicative Language Teaching method, designed to help you speak with more confidence from day one.

I’m Ramon Janssen,  a native Dutch speaker, experienced language teacher, and top-rated Udemy instructor with over 20,000 students.

I’ve taught Dutch and English at universities around the world, and I’ve learned six languages myself , so I know how it feels to be in your position, and what actually works when you’re learning to speak in real life.

Let’s get started with your first win,  introducing yourself in Dutch at work.
