Introduction to the course, in this lesson we will discuss the project and the reference images I am purely using as guide to the style I want to achieve.
This course is very much an imaginery vision, and will allow for maximum expression.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ZIP FILES IF YOU WANT TO FOLLOW ALONG WITH THIS COURSE
Lets look at the folder structure for this course if you downloaded the attachments you will find all the folders and images and ZBrush stages in these ready for you to look and review, these are to accompany the course and also see how it was created.
For the beginners if you are experienced you could probably skip this video.
In this lesson we will use a sphere as our base and use Dynamesh to start our modelling.
We will also start to use some basic brushes to form the base mesh of our model this will be used to add more details onto to.
Lets now start to pull out our legs for the sculpt, to do this we will use masking to only make the leg socket area editable.
Now we will start to cut in to the model and add more details to the surface, we will also use the deformation pallette to adjust the sculpt more.
By using lots of techiniques to do the same thing it should help you learn and explore ZBrush better.
Continuing on we will use a clay tubes brush and redynamesh through the process.
Customising your UI we will create a custom shelf at the bottom of your Interface.
And further refine our block shape.
Lets create some skin folds and wrinkles.
And increase our Dynamesh resolution.
In this lesson we will add the ground floor plane.
Now we will create the Cell that the organism is eating, to do this we will create a cylinder and then use some hardsurface modelling techniques to hollow the centre out, the tool we will look at is the ZRemodeller brush.
In order to smooth the cell uniformy we will use symetry with multiple turned on.
Increasing the detail within Dynamesh, multiple brushes used.
Lets add some more detailing to our model! we will finish off the body and also add in the location for our little claws to go.
In this lesson we will create a low res version of our model created at the lowest subdivision level we will then use ZReshers to fix and create loverly topology we will then increase the subdivisions and project the details we did in the dynamesh version on to this subdivided low res version.
So this video follows on from the last one now we have great topology we can begin the process to project the details from the Dynamesh version.
Using alphas in ZBrush is a very powefull feature it allows us to quickly add details and have full control over them when applying these to our model.
Look at a quick render!
Adding the claws to our sculpt as a new subtool.
Lets use the Subtool Plugin to mirror your claw subtools across. And carry on with some finer details using Alphas!
Lets do a mesh extraction to duplicate part of the model we can then add more detail to this and form a kind of spider web look.
We need to do some adjustments to the ground plane to make it work within our scene. We will also need to add details to the Ground and Cell.
Its really easy to create hairs in Zbrush we use fibre mesh to do this watch this video to learn how to create a simple hair system.
In this video sit back and watch how polygroups and masking work within ZBrush this lesson is for you to be able to understand what is going on in the next video which is posing out scene.
Lets first adjust our ground plane and curve the back up.
We will then move on to TPosing our scupt, it take a bit of getting used to so take it slow, your soon be flying along!
Lets duplicate our Cell and also take a chunk out of it to give the appearance of it being eaten.
OK so now we will go back into TPose and make some more revisions to get a more dynamic pose. we will use some more complex methods for making adjustments.
Duplicating Cells and final position of subtools.
In this video the main aim is to show you how to set the output resolution and set up a custom scene saved out for recal later.
Something which confuses people often with ZBrush is all the
different savings you can do in ZBrush let me explain what these are
here.
These are the basic things you might save not including materials and brushes etc...
Lets set up our materials and our output setting and produce these for our final render.
Well done for completing this project I hope you have enjoyed this ZBrush course and have learnt buckets!!!
Any problem you have please contact me via Q&As :)
Lets import out exported images into Photoshop as one file layered.
Now we will composite our layers together I will show you great ways for creating amazing control over your images, this can be applied to any kind of work you do in Photoshop.
Final tweaks in Photoshop.
Hope you have enjoyed this course and learnt lots from it any questions fire them over to me and I will help!!!!
I have done a quick lecture here as one of my students needed help with mirroring subtools.
In this short help video I am going to show you how to use ZRemesher this can be handy if you need better topology flow across your model and also need to even out the sub division level across merged Sub tools. We also look how to poly group them all to the same poly group if you need the tools as separate poly groups use auto group!
For those who have finished the course a massive "Well done!" for those still completing the course "Keep it up!" I just want to say thank you for choosing me and my course, it is really appreciated and means that I can produce more great courses for you in the future!
