Peter is a spiritual teacher and author who was born in Hungary and educated at the Universities of London. He began to work in London as a teacher and mentor. At the age of 25, a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. Peter Torok is the author of four best-seller online courses.
Peter`s insights and practical teachings have already helped countless people throughout the world to gain more awareness of their inner-self and to find greater fulfilment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the expansion of consciousness, the ability to go beyond our ego-based schemas, which can be achieved in two ways: intellectually, in the form of introspection and experientially, in the form of meditation. The combined method leads to a state of wisdom, power and compassion. This is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for resilience in an ever-changing world and ending adversity on the planet.
Peter`s main spiritual practice is lucid dreaming, which he sees as the most hands-on spiritual practice: everyone can experience this altered state of consciousness, which yields a truly unique perspective of the world.
My work and mission
I can say that I`m a lucky person because I do what I love: writing, teaching, research, meditation and lucid dreaming. This has been made possible because of what I have learned about the mind from science and spirituality, both in the West and in India. I still have my challenges like anxiety, having to deal with the loss of loved ones and other things; but I have gained powerful tools to manage life better. By learning about our mind, we gain new abilities to choose the path that will take us where we truly want to be. A path that has heart.
The practice of mindfulness and psychological techniques frees us from our not-yet-conscious automatic defence mechanisms, which prevent us from recognising our opportunities and moving forward in our life. Moving forward mostly depends on our state of mind and our effort, not necessarily how smart we are.
Introspection, meditation and trying to be compassionate leads to a mind-set, which is absent from limiting subconscious patters and binding external expectations. With mindfulness practice and lucid dreaming, we remember that we are the sculptor creating our lives as our masterpiece.
With my online video courses, I would like to share a perspective and a selection of powerful tools gained from many years of research in psychology, neuroscience, lucid dreaming, mindfulness, meditation and spiritual philosophies.
My inspiration to research consciousness stems from my adolescence. At the time, I thought that it wasn`t natural to sit behind a desk all day in school. I craved for discovering the world. I also had a strong feeling that the socialisation process I was exposed to was fundamentally flawed, because learning should have happened in a more creative and practical way. Later when I became a tutor and a teacher of mathematics and other academic subjects, I encountered similar issues in my students: the lack of motivation and goals.
Over time, it became clear to me that we should teach more about how can we choose a fulfilling profession, and about how to turn our talents into a living. We should teach entrepreneurship-, interpersonal- and psychological skills, because according to the latest studies happiness and self-worth are not dependent on external things but on our own attitudes. This is what I attempt to do through my work.
