Description

“Landscape in Iconography – Part 1” is the first stage of a comprehensive series dedicated to understanding and painting landscape in the tradition of iconography.

This part focuses on the foundations—the essential skills that determine the quality of all further work. You will learn how to design a composition, create a precise drawing, and prepare traditional egg tempera emulsion used in icon painting.

The course is divided into two sections: theoretical and practical. First, you will understand the principles behind building a coherent and readable landscape composition in an icon. Then you will apply this knowledge step by step by preparing your own design and transferring it onto tracing paper.

A key element of this course is also the preparation of egg tempera emulsion—the traditional binder used in icon painting. You will learn how to properly prepare and use it in your work.

This course is designed as a solid foundation. In the following parts of the series, you will move on to painting individual elements of the landscape, such as:

  • water

  • mountains

  • vegetation

  • architecture

  • and final surface protection

If you want to approach icon painting with greater confidence and precision, starting from a strong technical base, this course will guide you through the essential first steps.

Who this course is for:

  • Beginners who want to learn icon painting step by step from scratch
  • Artists who want to explore traditional egg tempera techniques
  • People interested in sacred art and iconography
  • Anyone who values precise, structured and process-based work
