  • Typical Mistakes of the job seeker6:27
  • How to Create an Effective LinkedIn Profile6:38

Hi all, so we are here talking about LinkedIn today. LinkedIn is a social network for professional, so it needs to be used in a professional manner. Not like Facebook, not like these Instagram, but like LinkedIn. In there, you have different kind of professionals, either young graduates or even people who are still at university, but also the CEO of the most important international companies.

And most likely your future employers, your future recruiters and everybody you need to collaborate, I think with professionally. So it’s important that your LinkedIn is professional. And it explains who you are and your achievements. So let’s go step by step on every important part of a LinkedIn profile.

    PROFESSIONAL PHOTO
First of all, you need to have a professional photo. Why? Because LinkedIn needs a professional photo. So not photos of you at the beach. Now, photos of you wearing sunglasses. Now, for those of you on holiday, while you’re drinking in a social relationship with other people, you need really a professional photo and there are some things.

It improves up to 21 times the chances of you getting some people to visit your profile. So photo is very important for, for you to catch the attention of people while on LinkedIn. It’s also important to set your cover picture in your cover picture. It’s used to either putting something about the company you’re working for, and if you’re not working for any company, you just need to put something related to your passion, the industry you’re in.

So let’s say you are a digital marketer. Maybe you can put something with computers, but also something which is no my background, but don’t leave it blank because it’s a wasted opportunity. You can even put writings where you can, what’s your title and everything that you want. Obviously be careful to put it also responsive for mobile.

    HEADLINE
Otherwise it’s a wasted opportunity. Second, the headline, the headline is the most important thing that people see. Other than the followup. You don’t need to put necessarily your job title that you have right now, but. Title that represents who you are as a professional or who you want to be as a professional.

Obviously you need to have some links with that profile that you want to be in your LinkedIn profile and then link to it. You can have something related to your passions. LinkedIn is helping people looking for a job. This is my mission. So together with my the title, I have also my passion on LinkedIn.

    SUMMARY

As you can see here, that it’s very important to have your summary. Actually it’s quite similar to the one that you would do for a CV, but it needs to be fairly representative to who you are now and who you would like to be in there. You can write it something about your achievements, where you leave.

So where do you work? What are your achievements? what you have done in your life that is really a breakthrough for other people? Try to write that in an interesting and motivating way!
This section is where you really motivate people, as well that there is a sort of confirmation of your experience.

    EXPERIENCE

I suggest to put all your read about experience for your professional. Ad sample. Some people asked me if I worked in a bar, shall I put it on my LinkedIn or not.

Well, it depends. If you are a student and you have fewer experiences. Definitely. Yes! Because it’s showing that you are active and you’re working. You’re ready to dirt your hands and do the work. If you’re a professional, it depends as well. If you have a career gap for around one year and in that year, you work for a bar, in that case, it’s suggested to put it. If that experience is very “old” and you have a lot of experiences that cover also other things you can even avoid to put it as well. It’s other jobs that you’ve done that are not right. They have done for a short time. And they’ve now in your career are out of focus and you don’t want to show them anymore.

So just show your representative experiences, your longest experiences and describe not your tasks, but mostly your achievements. What you have achieved. Numbers facts, figures. These are the things that improve for real your reputation because people see what you have done.

    SKILLS
Another very important part is something related to your skills. You can put up to 50 skills and it’s very important to put them. Why? Because it’s easier for a, to go on LinkedIn and find you in the search bar. If you put your skill in your profile, you have 27 times higher chances the recruiters see your profile if you put all the skills in your profile

Another thing. What I’m thinking about the skills is people can recommend them. People can approve them. People can say, “it’s true”, that person had that skill. So it’s improving your reputation. If you don’t put it, it’s a waste of chance and people maybe feel you’re hiding something because maybe you don’t want to show, which are your skills.

Very important point, never lie, not on a CV and mostly not on LinkedIn.

Why? And because everybody’s see your profile. So if you lie about something, people, right. I report to you, and then it can be very embarrassing. If people discover that you lied about how many people you, you reached with a certain marketing strategy, how many cells you have done, so it’s better to avoid.

    COURSES AND EDUCATION
And then there is a part about education or not other courses. So we suggest support every relevant course in education that you’ve done. Why? Because the more that is relevant, the more people can link with your profile and the more LinkedIn suggests your profile through people that worked with you.

    RECOMMENDATIONS
So we suggest to put every relevant thing that you can on LinkedIn experiences, courses, skills, everything also recommendation, which is the next part. It’s very easy. So because obviously the more recommendations you have, the more people will trust you. The more recruiters will see that your profile has a high reputation.

How can you do first of all, you can give it a conditions to people, to the people who work closely with you, who can be your previous boss, your colleague, a student from your second year, everybody that you feel that they deserve a recommendation. So in that case, people most likely will recommend your back. Another way that you can ask people, you can ask your trusted colleagues, you can ask your previous boss, you can ask people who you feel can give a really good recommendation.

  • LinkedIn - Create relations and discover your potential3:44

Another thing about LinkedIn is disconnected from your profile now, it’s that on LinkedIn you can create relationships.

LinkedIn is a social network. So it’s not just some place where you leave your CV there and that you hope that people start offering you jobs. Sometimes it can happen, but usually it does happen.

People on LinkedIn improve their reputation and visibility if they interact with other people. So connect with other people in your industry, connect with people that you feel are. The best people that can introduce you to what people connect with our recruiters, connect to colleagues, previous colleagues with people.

Get meetings with connect with everyone that can give you a push on LinkedIn that is relevant for your professional network. Obviously it’s very good practice. If you can recommend people to other people that might need something, sometimes you can see people are requesting an interview to do a certain kind of company or requesting to work in a certain industry.

And it’s a very good practice for you to recommend your contacts to others. So you can create a very big network of people on the set that people give you back. So it’s very good on LinkedIn. Very good best practice to share value with people. Another thing is that you can interact with pots of people, with articles, you can put and recommend, suggest, or you can even comment with your opinion, giving something valuable to people.

So it’s a very good best practice to do on LinkedIn. The more you, do the more your profile will be up in the research, in the rankings of LinkedIn. There is an index that LinkedIn has created. For them to understand how powerful is your LinkedIn profile. And you can see straight straightaway over here.

This is called LinkedIn social selling index. What does it mean? It means that it’s based on four criteria. If you go on the link below. You can see here, there is basically a number I can, that can go up to 100. That calculates how powerful is your LinkedIn profile? It is composed of four sections. The first section is about establishing your personal brand.

You can get up to 25 points in there. Then there is finding the right people as well, up to 25 points and engage with insights up to 25 points and within relationships up to 25 points. On the top. LinkedIn also gives you the ranking on how you’re comparing with your peers and with your network and also with all the other people on LinkedIn.

So it’s a very curious thing, and LinkedIn actually tells you how you can improve it. So the more you you do, what LinkedIn suggests, the more your profile will go up. The more people will see your profile, the higher chances you have, the people that recruited see your profile and contact you for a job offer.

So it’s very important to follow LinkedIn advice and to be active in that. And the last thing that you need to know about LinkedIn, which is a mass, is changing your job, searching preferences. You can go from the top of your profile over here, click on, change your preferences. And you can say, if you’re looking for a job, how actively you’re looking for a job and anyone that LinkedIn get recruiters to know that you’re looking for jobs.

So this is another thing that we really suggest you do. If you’re looking for a job now, this is everything that you need to know about LinkedIn. There will be some other guides in some other documents about LinkedIn, but this is definitely the basics of LinkedIn and we suggest that if you don’t have a LinkedIn profile that you do for short, the earlier the better, if you have one, we suggest to improve it with these suggestions.

If you have some questions on specific situations on whatever you decided to do something a lot, just pass on the comments and we will be replying.

  • The basics of the creation of your CV2:14

The essential information about your CV

Welcome back. We are almost at the end of the section regarding the CV. Let’s recap what you should have right now and what are the next steps. You should have done at least one CV related to one goal, let’s say the reality goal where you defined which were the blocks.

What are the steps that you are likely done until now? So you took the block CV. You took them like a CV, you duplicated it, you removed all of the non-essential stuff. You put all the green skills on the top, and then you created a profile, which is very related to everything that the most common job offers for somebody like you.

Now, what is the next step? Remember that everything needs to be aligned to the goal. The description needs to be consistent by itself and need to explain what the recruiter will find in your CV, so it will help him to read better your CV.

So the description that you’ve created need to be very inspiring in that case, if you want some more inspiration, you can go to your raw model, the one that really represent who you would like to be. And take some inspiration from it.

Then you need to check the readability. So you need to check that (if) each step is aligned with each other and that you don’t say things that are inconsistent between themselves.

Then technically you have decided the right size for you based on your personality, the standards expected from the role that you are taking; you have chosen the right style, which is a mixture between the market, what your role is and your personality. It is very important for you to have somebody who can proofread your CV to find mistakes that probably you didn’t find at the beginning.

And then it’s good if you can find somebody like your friend or your peer that can have a read of your CV and understand if there are any things that you can improve and the ideal thing will be if an expert will (can) check your CV and give you information about whether something will be ideal, what are you taking off something or not from your CV.

Remember that CV is perfect when you can not take anything away from it. Not when you can add more things. So if you can not take anything out of your CV, then your CV is perfect.

  • Where to find jobs online!6:47

Job Searching – Where to look for jobs

Hello, and welcome to one of the most important parts of the course where we’re going to debunk a lot of means of job searching and where a lot of people make the most of their mistake while searching for a job. This is crucial because it’s the part where we’re going to teach you where to find your next job.

At least 50 – 60% of all the people that look for a job, they focus just on two or three websites, which are Read, Indeed and LinkedIn and depends in which country you leave, you certainly have the two, three job searching websites where you’re staying 90% of the time, because you feel that it’s the only place where to find a job.

The truth is that there are a lot of jobs that you can apply to and that is always refreshing, there are a lot of different jobs every hour, but there is one thing that needs to be taken into account. When applying for jobs in that job websites, which is a competition. Everybody is going on Read, Indeed or LinkedIn and the biggest job searching websites that all the unexperienced job searcher are looking for a job in.

So if you’re looking for a job there, it’s going to be much, much, much harder to get a job because there is much more competition than in the other websites. So take this as the main lesson of this part of the course, because it’s very important to understand this. If you’re going to websites that are overly populated by people or by the same competition or by the same prophets that are looking for the job as you are, which are competing for the same role, it’s very risky because there’s a lot of competition and the more competition there is the less time the recruiters have to look at your CV, the harder it is to find a job there. So this is as simple as that.

Then now we’re going to explain, one by one, which are all the different ways that you can use in order to look for a job. We’re going to write them down on the document as well.

So you can see them. You can visit them one by one. You can understand what I mean, you can do your own search. So just take time and listen to this lesson.

So let’s just start to understand where are all the places that you need to go to in order to find a job. So apart from those websites, which is around to apply on Read, or Indeed, or LinkedIn is absolutely no wrong, you just need to know you have more competition.

So don’t base all the applications that you do on those top three websites, you need to diversify a lot. Let’s say you’re looking for a job. You go on Google, which is the most important websites that you need in order to search for jobs.

You need to search for your role in your city, in your industry, or just your role in your city or just your role if you really don’t care where you’re looking for a job or just for the role, if you really can work anywhere or wherever. So just remember to search with a record here on Google, because if you’re looking for a job in London, for example, don’t write “software engineer jobs”, right? But “Software engineer jobs in London”. So you need to be specific. After that the top websites will be for sure the most common websites. Right? So you just go there and apply to all the jobs that you want, but don’t focus too much time in the Google’s first page, there are others five to six to seven results that are not the most common websites, where to look for a job. But if your research is specific enough are going to be the websites that you need to go first, right? Because obviously those are the ones where the most company put jobs, but remember always where there is more competition.

Something that is very important to know is that if you go on the second, third, fourth, fifth, 10th page of Google, you always find job websites that have job opportunities where very few people go to, where you can find companies putting job applications. Maybe you can find websites with only one or two jobs, which are there are for you. But remember in there, there is less competition. So this is about Google. So I’m finding the websites which have more or less competition.

So, to summarise, website with more competition on the first page of Google on the top three, four or five results. Websites with less competition on the page, 10, 12, 13 of Google.

If you’re applying for jobs with the reality goal which is based on quantity you will end up for sure over there, if you’re looking for a job for a week ad example, you will be seeing hundreds of job application in one week. In that case, it’s very likely that you get to the page two to page number 10 on Google, If you’re applying for a dream goal is different because in that case it’s almost impossible to get to page 10 in Google.

Other kinds of websites you need to go to is looking for industry specific websites. Let’s say you’re looking for a job in advertising. You just go to “advertising jobs”. If you’re looking for a job in software engineering, “software engineering jobs”, and then you just go to all the websites, which have all the jobs that you need to look for.

Those are websites where you’re going to find the most jobs where you’re going to apply to, because obviously those are very specific to you and to your industry.

Something different is if you want to look for jobs in a specific industry. Let’s say you want to work in traveling and you have a generic profile in traveling but you know you want to work in there, kind of you have created your CV. Based on that one, you can go into industry websites, which are “advertising”, “advertising trouble, banking, finance, tech, digital”. So everywhere where you can find jobs in that industry. So two different research industry jobs. And jobs where you can find your role. Those are two different websites that you can look for depending on your goal.

If you go to agencies where there are people who need to look for profile to give to their clients, it’s a very good point because in there you will find people which are looking for people, you’re going to find recruiters that are looking for candidates with the right requirements to give to their clients.

Those are very good because you can create a relationship with your recruiter also by adding them on LinkedIn or somewhere. You can create a personal relationship with a recruiter. If the recruiter understands that your profile is very good, it’s going to give you jobs from their clients anytime he needs, he has an opportunity and he’s going to advertise, or she’s going to advertise your profile to the companies are looking for that kind of profile. So go through recruitment agency websites, contact the recruiters on LinkedIn and put your CV in there.

Say you’re looking for that kind of job. Say why you are a good fit for that role. And then just get them to advertise your profile to available jobs

  • WORKSHOP! Find your job during the pandemic!22:25

In this video, we are going to talk practically about how to find a job during the pandemic, before doing that, we want just to give a little bit of introduction. Basically if you’re watching this video, which is related to the digital world, you’re probably somebody who can work from wherever they want.

It means that the sector that you’re working in, which is not the travel or the hospitality one, but it’s the digital. The digital environment. It hasn’t been disrupted it’s much as the other sectors or the good thing is that you can move vertically and horizontally in different fields that allow you to work from everywhere in the world.

Maybe you’re already there. So maybe you already work as a social media manager at example, which means that you can work from home for the same brand that you worked before or in the same sector, or also you can work for other countries as well, not just in a country you’re working in right now. So you need to broaden your horizon a little bit more.

Let’s say you live in the UK but you can also work for companies that work in the USA or the work with English speaking countries. If there’s somebody that leaves in the UK, but it’s from Italy, from Spain, from France or whatever countries originally the word. You’ll have from your site, your language, which you can use very well.

So you know, English and you know, your mother tongue, which is another European or American and South American or Asian country, which is super good because you can use your language, which obviously is stronger for you. To work for companies that work in your same country, but living in the UK, it’s very positive because you can also give companies that work in your country or with your language another value.

We’ve got time zones, which actually, maybe it’s even more productive for them because there are a lot of companies who work in other countries. Let’s say as an example, Italy, this is where it comes from, there are a lot of companies in Italy that deal with communities, deal with people that work abroad that work in the UK.

So having somebody from the UK that does the job for them. It’s actually very useful. You can work for companies in the UK so you don’t even want to move to another country, which before was something that was maybe going to block you, because usually if you want it to work for an Italian company for a different market, usually you needed to go to Italy.

And work from Italy, but now since mobility is reduced because of the coronavirus, you can work from the UK for Italian companies, right? So you can broaden your horizon and go to work for different companies, different languages, different cultures, different industries. From the comfort of your own home from the comfort of your own sofa or bed.

So it’s a very good opportunity for the digital world, because obviously you can exploit the possibility of living in the place that you want and actually doing the job that before it was not possible to do. So. This is a little bit of a introduction of what I want to say in the future, because by understanding this, you can also explore other opportunities that maybe you weren’t thinking about.

And obviously, as we said before, the digital sector is not being disrupted as the hospitality or other sectors with the coronavirus has been really hit. So the good thing is yes, there are a lot of companies who are firing people, but there are also a lot of companies who hasn’t been touched at all, or they’re also improving.

So our ability is not to explain to you where to find those opportunities, where to find the companies that are not firing, but they’re hiring right now. And to make sure that you’re not wasting time by looking at jobs that are expired or from some companies that are firing people or they’re about to fire people and they forgot to get the job out of the job website that you were looking for.

So we really want to give you a help to understand where, to find those opportunities, where to find the companies that are hiring right now and how to find a job during the pandemic more easily than before. Now, I’m going to share the screen and I’m going to show you a few examples that you can use in order to understand which are the strategy that you can use to find a job.

And after watching a few strategy that we’re going to teach you. You’re going to come up with new ones and you’re probably going to find the key to find your next job. So let’s watch from my computer now.

Here we are on the first step on how to find a job during the pandemic, by using LinkedIn.

Obviously it’s one of the best tools that you can use in order to find a job. So the first tip is to find companies that are looking for people through recruiters or through employers of the same company on LinkedIn. So basically all you need to do is to do a Boolean search. Boolean is the one with the ” ” and you need to look for “We’re hiring” or “We are hiring”

We have 37,000 results. Obviously let’s make it related to us. So by narrowing down the search criteria, I will put my example. I live in London, and we’re going to find that we have 2000 people that are hiring right now in London.

This is a very good thing because you know that those people or the companies where those people work are hiring, we give you another suggestions. So on the first one, if you want to go more in depth, you can click on connections and that you can find first, second or third connection to you.

Obviously the closer it is to you, the better it is. You can also put all filters here and select, let’s say the industries, the language, the school, whatever, whenever you do that, you will have a list of people here. What we suggest to do is another thing. Obviously, first you can contact them. You can connect with all of them and that you can.

And say, which is the reason why you are conducting them, which is obviously you’re looking for a job. You have these kind of profiles. So you can write an introductory message that you’re going to write to everybody that has a certain standard that you really want to conduct them. So you just connect with them and you write a note and you write whatever you want.

Obviously you need to be catchy. You need to explain why you’re contacting them, the trick is here. You can see the people that you’re connected with that are your connection and their connection. Why is it important? Because if you really want to work for this company ad example, you can go in click in there and you can find the people that are working there.

Again, go with you on the same network of the guy that you want to talk to. And then you can find some people that you are really familiar with, that you’ve worked with to possibly ask them to introduce you to this person, because obviously if you’re getting introduced, it’s even better because you know, when you get an introduction, when you network that much, you’re always going to get results.

So this is one trick, obviously the more connection you have that for you to find a person that can help you introduce yourself to this person. And obviously this is a chain reaction of things that can lead you to a quick interview with them over the phone, which can lead to them saying, okay, I know this person because another person referred it to me and it’s obviously easier to find people like this, it’s obviously much easier for people to reply to an introduction from somebody that you both know, rather than getting an introduction by somebody that you don’t have any connection with, it will work either way, but this is our suggested thing. So this is our first step by using LinkedIn.

    Google, your best friend!

The next step is still Linkedin, this time from Google. We need to find “hiring right now” on LinkedIn. And you’re going to find this article or some other articles that are talking to you about companies hiring in the UK. Some of them are regional, so some of them are from England, some of them are from America. Some of them are from Australia, etc etc. The one I’m going to show you now is in the UK and people who are editors at LinkedIn, this has been updated for the last time on the 30th of October, basically 15 days ago. But here you can see that a lot of companies in a lot of different industries and you can see also how many roles that have opened in each of those companies. And that is something very good because you can see that basically, if you want to work in an internet sector or you can see I’m on some, they have 806 jobs, which means that they have a lot of jobs that are open right now.

Now, at the time of speaking, we are approaching a second lockdown. So it means that people are going to buy even more online, probably Amazon is going to open more jobs. So you can go on the Amazon website and you can find the jobs available for you.

So this is something different, you can see they added the “Editor’s picks” where you can find other articles that talk about finding a job in the uk, you can also check it the whole day if you want, because there are a lot of jobs in other companies and therefore you can spend a lot of time.

Something else that you’ve been doing, which is very useful, you can see, which are the sectors that have companies that are hiring right now. And you can see at example, that there are some sectors that are stronger than others. For example, you can see financial services who have all the companies here.

You can see the sign, “just one”. So maybe some that good news. You’ve been seen a structure computer. You can see a lot of sectors and you can make up your mind of how many of those sectors are the ones with the most jobs.

So you can also understand which are the sectors where you want to work. So it’s something that is also another thing that you can read from this article.

    Otta, the artificial intelligence revolution!

The next thing I’m going to talk to you about is “Otta” is one of my favorite websites to look for a job in, I didn’t try to look for my job because I don’t need to look for it, but, obviously, I know what people expect from a job searching company. And Otta is amazing for people who work in the digital work, because there arer a lot of tech companies, with no noise, this through a lot of those companies that work for Otta are companies like Monzo, like, Deliveroo and a lot of other tech companies in the digital world, as you can see here, a lot of super established brands, probably, you know all of them, you can also find new startups that are here on this website because they are cool first and second, they are getting bigger.

So it’s a very good website to look for jobs here. I’m going to show you how to look for a job on Otta. Basically all the companies that are here are not that are hiring right now and they made it clear on the website. And obviously, as they said before, no noise, which means that all the jobs that you can find here are jobs that are available for you and another good thing is that you can see here you’ll have matches.

So how does it work? You create your profile, you put your CV, your link. Your LinkedIn account and then Otta understands, which are your strengths, which are your, your key selling points and they match you with the right job application.

So it’s very cool because it’s very tailored. We can click here, “view your matches”. And as you see here, we’ll have the job. You’ll have market specialists, posted 19 days ago, confirmed live in the last 24 hours. So it means that the job is still here. You can see something which is very cool, which is the Glassdoor review, which is very positive because obviously you need to make sure that the companies you are applying to are honest and they are nice.

And you can find a lot more information, something that usually in job searching websites, you don’t find, and you can also find a review from the person. I’m from Otta, which is the CTO. In this case that needs reviewing a company. You can find a lot more information like the ideals and a lot more stuff, values, etc etc, people, and so on.

And here you can see the basics of the job you can see, which are the requirements. You can see what the job is involved, etc etc. So you can decide either to save for later or to discard you can save for later, or you means that you can save it as I’m doing now here and there. You can go back to it afterwards, the short list, and then you can apply.

So let’s say, I have 40 matches. I want to see first, which are all the matches that I can find and then I want to apply for them. So I go here and I applied. If we see here, it’s digital marketing manager. Yeah. Ad example, it’s something aligned to my experience as well. So I could save for later ad example, growth, marketing lead, absolutely something for me.

I have very similar skills again here. Yeah. Basically, as you can see, three out of three, four out of four are for me. So it’s something that works really well. So if you don’t want to lose time and if you want to improve the chances to get a job during the pandemic, and also afterwards, you can come here on Otta.

And obviously in the short list, you’re going to find all the job applications that you have saved and where you can apply for it. Then obviously you can change the job filters and example. You can understand what to put here or you provide where you want to work, etc etc. And as you can see here, you can write and compose all of your inputs.

Say you from marketing, you can pull which kind of marketing we do. And then obviously we recommend the best jobs for you.

    Glassdoor, reviews at hand

This is Glassdoor. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a website that is rating companies based on people who interview with those companies. They usually also put some tricks for some people on how the pass the interview, and they also say what they have been asked etc.

But for this case, we want to talk to you about the hiring service. The hiring search is something that Glassdoor has done to help people during the pandemic. So as you see here, there is COVID-19. So here you can see Glassdoor “hiring surge”. So basically all the companies that are hiring a lot, you were in the public.

So how can you use it? The first thing. you can go in the “Companies” section with the hiring surge, so you can click on full list and then you can find the location for you, and look what I found here. I found a lot of companies that are hiring right now, a lot.

Right. If you look in here, we have 15 pages, even more. Every page that you can see here to have more than 10, 15 companies. So it’s super good because basically you can also research a company in a lot more filters here.

So let’s say you work in biotech and pharmaceuticals. Go here, look for your industry. And you can find all the companies with Hiring Surge right now. We have less pages, obviously, because it’s more specific. But still is very useful and you can go on like that by looking for companies with the hiring search.

    Find a job, indeed!
Now i will show you another platform, Indeed. Not because I want you to look for a job here, but because I wanted to show you that you can find companies that are hiring right now during the Covid through Indeed. And it’s through the hiring immediately that you can find here. You can find, obviously the date it has been posted, let’s set the last 14 days, your salary estimate and other things over here. And obviously let’s say you work and live in London, we found out that you have 748 jobs that you can apply to. You can also set temporary or remote, it fully depends on your availability. So you can put the searching criteria that you like.

And obviously the more specific you look at the better it is for you, but if you don’t want to close to yourself any opportunity, you can put a relatively larger set of criteria so that you can find jobs that are still closer to what you’re looking for.

    Fast Track to success!

Last but not least, the fasttrack.co.uk website.

You can see here, the COVID-19 edition that is showing you which are the fastest growing companies in the UK right now. And you can see like from the number one until the number a hundred. So basically you will see which are the fastest growing companies. So why are we showing you this link?

Because it’s got the ones that are growing faster. It means that the one that are looking for more people. So it’s very logic that those companies are the ones where you can find an opportunity.

If you go in the tech track because you’re working digital world, you can find the top 100 companies that have grown faster during this year.

And so you can see the table over here and you can see companies like Revolut, you can also fiond how many people they employ, so let’s see here 1,489, it means it’s easier for you to get hired by this company rather than a company with lower number of employees.

But obviously it doesn’t also mean anything because you can also find a job in a company that is hiring less people, but the more people work in a company, the higher the turnover is. So the higher is the chance that somebody is leaving a company and you can replace them. So, this is the last one that we are reviewing right now, online for now, we are finished for this video.

In this video we’ve show you a lot of examples on how you can look for a job online during the pandemic in the most efficient way possible. They are not obviously the only websites that you need to use in order to look for a job during the pandemic. These are some that I selected because I know they are good, I know they give a lot of value, and I know that in there you can find hundreds or thousands of companies. So if you really want to deepen your search, you can go in all those websites and you can start looking for jobs from tomorrow onwards because probably you will never run out of jobs. But what I teach in the other videos in the other courses that we offer is that you don’t need to stay in one place only to look for jobs.

Because you’re using your opportunities. You can go through for a job in a lot of other websites, you connect work, where you can do a lot of other things, but for now, those are the ones that we suggest.

And now we will put below the video, a link or a description of all the other websites that we find from now on, where you can find a lot of value and you can find a lot of companies that are hiring right now during the Covid.

So good luck for your job search and you have the last video, that is the one that you need to watch when you will have the next interview, hopefully got from the tips that we gave you.

  • How to find jobs during challenging times - Attitude and Strategies4:18

Hello, here we are probably in the most important lesson of the mini course because it is about how to find a job during the pandemic. So I just want to give you a different point of view than the one you are probably reading on social media, reading on magazines, watching on TV.

Looking for a job right now, yes, it is difficult. It is much more difficult than it was before. So everything that they say about companies hiring, about people looking for a job that are having hard times, because there is a lot of competition it is correct. It is right. This is exactly what is happening.

But I don’t want you to be discomforted, demotivated about looking for a job right now, because actually you can find more opportunities than before.

If you look at your profile in a different way. So, as I said before, looking for a job right now, it is exactly the same as you were looking for a job before. It is still difficult, it is still a job.

So if it wasn’t easy before, it is not going to be easy now. But it is going to be more difficult because you need to be better at explaining who you are: your CV needs to look better, your strategy needs to be better, you need to be more laser focused, you need to explore it more. Your network is your net worth.

You need to be more creative. There are a lot of things that before probably you were not even doing and now you must do, because otherwise you will have too much competition and it is going to be impossible to find a job if you are looking for a job incorrectly. So, I just want to give you a few hints on how to look for a job during these hard times.

I hope that at least one of those suggestions that I’m giving to you is going to help you in improving your chances in finding a job.

    IMPROVE YOUR PROFILE

So, first of all, you need to improve your profile. You need to improve who you are, you need to improve your sales toolkit and need to improve your digital presence.

Basically you need to improve everything about who you are, because right now a lot of people are not working. Maybe you are one of them. So imagine you are out of the market. So, you are unemployed. And therefore you have a lot of free time, which you can use either to look for a job properly, or you can also use in order to improve your skills, improve your digital presence, which is something that we really suggest you to do because. Indeed, if you are not working and the other people that right now are working want to look for a job, they compete against you. In this case, you might have a gap that is too difficult to explain. Because it is hard compare with other people who has never stopped working during the pandemic.

    UPSKILL!

So, first of all, what we suggested to do is to upskill. There are a lot of free courses, a lot of courses online about everything that you want. You can study, you can read. Now more than ever it is easier and easier and easier to find content to upskill yourself. You can find also a free masterclass. You can also work for free in some companies to have some experience. You can find a lot of places that can give you an opportunity to prove your skills, to do something different. For example, right now I am creating these courses and I am helping also other people to do some things that otherwise they couldn’t do. I have some friends that are good at videos and so I am employing them, for a short time, to help me with videos. So, I am really trying to find people to help me with stuff. And I am sure there are other people, other companies who are looking for other people, maybe for a shorter time, to help them with something. Network is something very related to this.

Now, you need to exploit your network to talk to friends, talk to professional, talk to a lot of people that can help you in finding something to upskill yourself, to prove your skills even for free. This will be very useful because whatever you are doing now is going to help you in the future, in the very near future, to find something and to proof the employers that while you were looking for a job, you were also upskilling yourself, you were learning stuff.

    CREATE A PERSONAL BRAND

Then, as I said, you need to improve also your personal brand. Everybody has a online personal brand, which can be either your LinkedIn profile, your portfolio, your website, your online CV. So, everybody on the internet has a reputation. Sometimes you have a bad reputation because you do bad things or because you don’t have anything on the profile. But the important thing is that you can always improve your reputation by creating a more professional image of yourself online.

You can work on your LinkedIn. You can improve the way you talk about yourself. You can create a website that talks about yourself. You can create a digital one-page CV where you talk about your skills, what you’ve done in life. You can create a blog where you talk about your topics, your interests, and therefore employers can see that you are really taking care of your digital profile.

So improving your personal brand online is one of the things we really suggest to do during the pandemic. Another thing, as we said, is up-skilling yourself. We talked a lot about this already.

Another thing to do is to imagine yourself as a product or a brand. Every product or brand need to improve, need to differentiate while in a crisis.

A lot of companies can face difficult times during their lives and what they do? They either try to improve their products or they try to do something different. They maybe try to partner with some other companies, and this is exactly what you can do.

Let’s say that you have always worked in marketing, as a social media manager in a digital agency, what can you do? You can try to find new ways of working with other industry, with other people, with other profiles, with other companies. Therefore, you can try to see yourself, to see your profiles in different way, a way that is a bit different from the one you had for your whole life.

    CONSIDER A CAREER CHANGE

So, it is important to change strategy and/or to change industry. For example, if you are in the travel industry, right now, it’s very difficult for you to find a company that hires you in the digital work, because a lot of companies in this sector right now are in trouble, they are having a difficult time. I am not saying that it is impossible for you to find a job in that field, but I am saying that it is probably harder to find a job in travel than it is to find a job in another industry. Online there are a lot of lists, websites that tell you which are the companies that are improving, which are the companies that are giving value to people, that are increasing their revenues, increasing the number of people working for them.

And this is exactly what needs to get you interested. If a company is improving, is hiring people it means that this company is doing well. And, vice versa, for companies doing well, It means that they are probably looking for more people to help them in keeping the pace or improving whatever they are doing.

So if you’re looking for a job in a specific industry that it is not really going well, we really suggest to look for a job in a different industry, an industry that is going much better. If we want to give an example about this kind of industries right now, we could talk about digital marketplace, like Amazon. Others could be companies working with houses, that are providing stuff furnitures for your house; and that because a lot of people are working from home right now.

    DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Some other industries that are going well are online courses, supermarkets, pharmacies, pharmaceutical brands, fast-moving consumer goods. You can find a lot of industries that right now are improving, are increasing their revenues because during the pandemic they are helping people. These are companies that are improving themselves or, let’s say, they are keeping themselves alive.

So we really suggest you to do your homework, to study industries where your profile could fit better. Try to understand how you can fit your skills into an industry that is going up in that way. In that way it is for sure easier to look for a job.

  • Prepare the remote interview!11:06

    The remote Interview

So the first thing we need to know is about the preparation before the interview, obviously, because even if it’s the first telephone interview, which is the first time you’re going to talk with a recruiter or with a hiring manager, we always need to know how to prepare for that. So basically the interview is the first ever approach that you have with the hiring manager. Usually you write via email or via a link, or you just exchanged a few messages from that, which is obviously the first business card. There is the most important part, which is the telephone interview. The telephone interview is the first time that you guys ever got to talk to the manager or to the hiring manager or to the interview that he’s going to interview you.

So you need to know a few things. First of all, we just want to talk about preparation which is fundamental. So you need to know everything that is written on the job description, because it’s the most important thing that, you know right now, you know, about job description.

So if you read the job description carefully, you’re going to find out which are the required skills, which are the skills that. They would like you to have, but it’s not fundamental. And they’re going to describe briefly what the role is about. So all you need to do is you need to read the job description and you need to understand what are the key points they are asking.

And basically you need to do a very good study of what the writing, because obviously. If the writing that you need to have used that specific software, or you need to know that specific industry, or you already know that something is very important for the role, and maybe you don’t have that. So where you don’t have many experiences is always good to prepared the research.

We obviously have a specific part of this course where we are talking about this. So right now we’re just going to talk about the interview. The phone interview usually is the first approach that you have with a hiring manager. So mostly all the things they want to know from you is. Where you are, what your family life, why you applied for the role.

And basically if they should count you for it, more technical or more detailed interview, either physical. If it’s going to be the case, maybe later in the future if it’s all safe. But mostly, probably the most likely thing is they’re going to invite you in a zoom or teams or videoconferencing interview because they want to know you face-to-face. So the telephone interview is crucial because after reading the job description, you need to train to say your pitch. You need to train to talk about yourself. You obviously also need to align who you are and the authority that you prepared before that all yourself with the job description of the job you’ll need to apply for it.

Obviously everybody that prepared very well for an interview with knows what to say about yourself, but you need to talk about yourself with a context. And the complex right now is the company is the interviewer and is the job description. So you need to study the job description, the interviewer and the company, and a story to that, because then is the one that is going to be more relevant for the recruiter.

So everything you need to know, and you need to do for the telephone interview is reading the job spec or preparing something. The questions and preparing some answers to possible questions. But example, if you have a weakness or if you have something that is missing from the job description, you already need to prepare that.

So preparation of questions and answers, preparation of your pitch, your story, who you are compared to the job description and to the company and to the interviewer, and then make sure to reply on time, make sure to be in a place where the reception is very well. Where there is no noise, not background noise, not people screaming where you’re not in an open space.

It makes sure it will be a ready to reply at the time the interviewer said he was going to call you. So this is a basic of the phone interview is mostly about preparing yourself to describe generally who you are related to the job description that you have. And, uh, it’s to show that you are basically a good candidate, that cover letter is relevant for the role and the first business card they have, which is a point of view has gone very well. So this was the first part. And now we go more in detail into the video interview, which is a little bit more technical.

So how about the video interview? It’s not that much different from a physical interview.

Some things are crucial in a video interview. It’s the space you have around. So those things right now, Mostly for people who work in digital should be already very easy to understand. It should be common sense, but some people are still getting wrong. Let’s recap, all the fundamental things you need to know in order to do a very good in your interview.

So the first thing is the space, the space around you. Obviously it needs to be tidy. It needs to be clear, clear, light. It doesn’t need to be in the dark. It doesn’t need to be in a place with a lot of people around it doesn’t need to be in the kitchen where other people are cooking. It doesn’t need to be in a place where the recruiter can look around you instead of looking at you.

So it needs to be a place that, um, needs to be comfortable and where the recruiter just focuses on you because they’re not destruction WhatsApp. I had interviews with people that were in a noisy place. They were. In their bedroom where that was untidy. Obviously this is the worst business card that you can ever give to the interviewer.

If you’re your room, ad example, and it’s not tidy, the recruiter is going to think that you don’t even take care about the space where you leave. So he’s going to be a very bad business card. So it’s based around you. It needs to be clear with good lights, no noise with no distractions, Porter record the sounds.

We need to be very clear. Very crisp. You need to be a sound where the recruiter can near you. Obviously, this is very linked with the internet connection. The internet connection needs to be fast. This will be a reliable if you’re in a place where Alec example, you know, already that it’s not working very well.

Maybe it’s the case that you connect with your iPhone, you do the hotspot, or maybe you’re going to a place that it’s more quiet or maybe you go in a house of your friend or anywhere. But the most important thing is that the outdoors clear is crazy that you’ve got a connection with them. You need to put your videos.

So you need to be ready for that. You can do a test video call with a friend or with some people or with the computer itself without itself, where, you know, everything is working. You need to close everything from your computer. You need to build email, WhatsApp, any up the heads-up notification that can pop up during the interview because you can get distracted.

So everything needs to be clear, you don’t need to have noise around you, noise from the computer. You don’t need to have a bad internet connection. If you have a bad internet connection, just go somewhere else. So everything needs to be very good. You need to concentrate. On the interview, you don’t need to concentrate on people around you on the connection.

It’s very frustrating for you according to viewer, if the connection breaks up, you cannot explain something clearly, because obviously if you explain something with the internet connection that is not good, is impacting the way the recruiter listen to you. It’s like this video, not perfect, but if this, you will be in a place where it’s very chaotic with a lot of noise, you basically won’t follow the video where you will follow other things, because you just want to hear the person saying the things in a clear way.

And if it’s destructive, it’s not very good. After you have preferred after you have researched the company. After you have read the job spec and multiple times, and you’ll have the answers to the most critical and ethical questions of the interviewer. Something that you already prepared before, because we shown your sub-meters being before you can do some more things to make the interview in your experience.

Better. Some things we suggest are you need to download and print your CV. You need to put it in front of you because in that case, you can review it. You can also take notes on your CV or our notebook. And here you could say. Something that is on the top of your city’s art example, you can bring to a city, or you can have your iPad with your CV next to you with some notes about yourself.

The same thing is for the questions. If you prepare some questions to ask to the interviewer, it’s good that you write them, like during the sticky notes on your computer or in the notebook or your computer, it’s somewhere where you can read whatever you prefer for, for the interview.

Because a lot of people will forget what to say. Because you talk about a lot of things. You talk about yourself, you are in a stressful situation, so maybe you prepared some things that you forgot. So it’s better to have something near you. Obviously make sure that the interviewer doesn’t catch you watching at the notes all the time, because then it’s not very good.

But if you have some notes written next to your CV or somewhere close to your computer, it’s very good practice. Something also very good is you take the job description on your computer or on the notebook. And you write the note next to the job application so they can not send, put them near you where you can read before the interview finishes, asking questions is very important.

So if you have some questions that you prepared before and that you can see what you wrote, it’s easier before the interview finishes that when you see them in front of you, you can say the question that you really wanted to ask. So something else that we didn’t talk about before, but it’s very important is to be early in the interview.

So, if you have like a zoom link, it’s better to open the zoom link, like five minutes before the interview to test the audio, to test the microphone, instead of coming five minutes early or one minutes earlier, because maybe your computer can crash, the connection can crushed the app, maybe doesn’t log properly.

So it’s very good that you go into meeting before time. So five minutes before is, uh, I think perfect. So remember that you need to set out. So obviously you’re prepared yourself, you research, you, uh, asked questions, you answered the questions. You, you, you need a lot of things to prepare for the interview, but remember you need to send out.

So it’s always a good practice of talking with a loud voice, obviously not screaming, but not talking like very slow because otherwise they can’t hear you. So obviously the most important things apart from whatever you’re going to say. He’s smiling and saying, thank you. We hope that the phone interview and the video conference interviews goes well and if you have a physical interview, you’re going to go and you have the final step and we wish you good luck for that.

Obviously the next video, I’m going to talk about other things about the interview and also about the followup and the negotiation of your salary. So good luck for the next stages and see you soon.
