This is a short class to start the learning of the Stuff in the Shaolin Style. Any one can take it because doesn't have any connection on the previews classes. I think that also student from different style like Karate or Tae Kwon Do that don't have this weapon on their style can use this class to have the first taste of it. If you are willing to progress on the Shaolin Wu Tao Program, this is a must take class.
The stick is called the Granparent of the weapon and it is the basic to learn the rest of the traditional weapons. This is also the first weapon the Shaolin Monks start to train with, that is why is the first and most studied weapon in the program.
According to the Shaolin tradition, in each style practiced you first learn boxing (Quan), and then weapons, and the order of learning is as follows: the stick (gun), the saber (Dao), the sword (Jian), the spear (Qiang) and finally the halberd (Da-dao).
These five weapons are considered fundamental in the study of Shaolin.
I hope you enjoy this lesson and be safe with the stick, as I always say in the Tenkaichi Podcast: train always, train good.
