Instructor
Jill Moray, host of The Knitting Channel and The Hollywood Knitting Circle, developed the Knitting Pretty method, a breakthrough method of knitting that is easier, faster and more enjoyable. Jill has been a knitting teacher and coach for more than 20 years at workshops, seminars, trade shows, New York University, and the Ronald McDonald House of New York.
Jill began her career in advertising, as a broadcast business manager, music director, and producer of national television and radio campaigns, before moving to New York to pursue a career in front of the camera.
She worked as a hand model, a hand-knitter for Baby Gap, writer, fashion stylist and lifestyle expert and as an actress in television commercials and voice-overs (Jill was the voice of the Hershey Syrup cow). At the same time, Jill became well-know as a stand-up comic, working with such luminaries as Susie Essman and Richard Lewis, and was a regular sketch comedy player on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Jill has also appeared in The Sopranos, Law & Order: SVU, and feature films. Since moving to Los Angeles, Jill has continued her stand-up comedy and Guest Starred on the TV show, Incredible Crew for two episodes and is in the process of shooting two feature films.
But the one constant in Jill’s life has always been knitting. After knitting Continental for years, Jill developed a method of knitting whereby the right needle, held like a pencil, works the yarn like a shuttle while the needles stay perpendicular to each other. Her method is faster, easier, and more consistent; it guarantees perfectly symmetrical stitches since the needle takes just the amount of yarn it needs to make a perfect stitch, so there is none of the stress or anxiety sometimes associated with traditional knitting.
The need for her to share her method of knitting, dubbed the Knitting Pretty method, continued to grow within Jill, so she produced the Knitting Pretty series of instructional videos, to get her method of knitting out to millions of people so they, too, can reach that peaceful, knitatative place where all is good.
