Watercolors:
Aureoline (Schmincke)
Hansa Yellow Deep (Daniel Smith)
Madder Brown (Schmincke)
Payne's Grey (Van Gogh)
Paper: Canson Montval, 300gsm, cold-pressed, 18x25 cm
Brushes: SilverBrush Black Velvet #6, Da Vinci Casaneo #2, Natural Squirrel Brush #1
In this video, we will practice drawing realistic shapes of the leaves. Try to analyze the reference and repeat the twisted shape of the leaves and all the curves on the paper.
In this video, we will learn the main techniques for painting leaves. First you need to analyze the reference to see which areas of the leaf are lighter and which ones are darker in comparison to each other. Then prepare color mixes on the palette (for the light green shade try mixing yellow and green, for the darker shades - Payne's Grey and Green or Blue and Green, or Green and Red). Paint area by area, separating leaf into different pieces.
Before we start painting, let’s go over the main steps we’ll follow to paint the lemon. It’s always a good idea to do this — even when working on your own pieces. Take a moment to analyze and plan the key steps before diving into the painting itself.
