    Now, let’s look at the second meaning of ~ないで.

    This time, ~ないで is used to politely tell someone not to do something.

    The structure is very simple.

    Verb in ない-form + で

    For example,
    行(い)く becomes 行(い)かない, and we say 行(い)かないで.

    食(た)べる becomes 食(た)べない, and we say 食(た)べないで.

    When we want to be polite, we add ください at the end.


    ここで たばこを 吸わないでください。
    ここで たばこを すわないで ください
    Please don’t smoke here.


    ドアを 閉めないでください。
    ドアを しめないで ください
    Please don’t close the door.


    心配しないで。
