Description
This course will give you the tools to improvise on an F blues using authentic jazz language. The course focuses on learning jazz vocabulary that is immediately useful and fun to play. Rhythm is at the core of the jazz language. This course teaches vocabulary through essential rhythms that use only the blues scale. You'll learn how to use the jazz language to groove with a rhythm section and to find joy and expression in playing simply but effectively.

Instructor
Peter Saxe is a professional working pianist in Chicago. While his passion is jazz, his professional life includes performing in a wide range of ensembles where he is equally adept at pop, rock, R & B, funk, etc.
His first joy is playing. A close second is his passion for unraveling the secrets of improvisation for eager, curious students.
Peter received his B.M in Jazz Studies from Indiana University and his M.M. in Music Ed. from Boston University. Peter is on faculty at Columbia College Chicago and Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts).
