Capitolo 2: I vetri che scompaiono (descrizione in italiano semplice)

Harry Potter vive da dieci anni con i Dursley, suoi zii. La famiglia lo tratta molto male: lo fa dormire nel ripostiglio sotto le scale, gli dà poco da mangiare e lo ignora sempre.

Suo cugino Dudley è viziato, ha tutti i giocattoli che vuole e fa sempre il prepotente con Harry. Gli zii preferiscono solo Dudley e non vogliono parlare di niente di strano.

Un giorno è il compleanno di Dudley. La famiglia va allo zoo insieme a Harry. Harry deve stare tranquillo e non fare guai.

Davanti al terrario del serpente, Dudley si avvicina per vedere il rettile, ma il serpente non si muove. Allora Harry parla piano al serpente e riesce a capirlo: può parlare con i serpenti.

All’improvviso i vetri del terrario scompaiono magicamente. Il serpente esce libero e scappa via. Dudley cade dentro il posto del serpente e si spaventa tantissimo.

Gli zii sono furiosi con Harry. Non capiscono come sia successo, ma danno la colpa solo a lui. Da quel momento zio Vernon e zia Petunia odiano ancora di più Harry e le sue stranezze, senza sapere che lui è un mago.

Chapter 2 – The Vanishing Glass (Simple Description in Simple Italian)

Harry Potter has lived with the Dursleys, his aunt and uncle, for ten years. The family treats him very badly: they make him sleep in the cupboard under the stairs, give him little to eat, and always ignore him.

His cousin Dudley is spoiled, has all the toys he wants, and always bullies Harry. His aunt and uncle only prefer Dudley and refuse to talk about anything strange.

One day it is Dudley’s birthday. The family goes to the zoo with Harry. Harry must stay calm and not get into trouble.

In front of the snake’s terrarium, Dudley leans in to look at the reptile, but the snake doesn’t move. Then Harry speaks softly to the snake and manages to understand it: he can talk to snakes.

Suddenly, the glass of the terrarium vanishes magically. The snake slithers out and escapes. Dudley falls into the snake’s enclosure and is terrified.

His aunt and uncle are furious with Harry. They don’t understand how it happened, but they blame only him. From that moment on, Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia hate Harry even more for his oddities, not knowing he is a wizard.

Capitolo 3: Lettere da nessuno - descrizione semplice

La vita di Harry continua a essere difficile con i Dursley. Gli zii lo trattano sempre male, lo tengono lontano da tutto e non vogliono che succeda niente di strano in casa.

Un giorno, arriva una lettera indirizzata proprio a Harry, con il suo nome e il posto dove vive (il ripostiglio sotto le scale). È una lettera strana, scritta con inchiostro verde, e non c’è il nome del mittente: sembra arrivare da nessuno.

Zio Vernon vede la lettera e si arrabbia moltissimo. La prende subito, la strappa e non la lascia leggere a Harry. Non vuole assolutamente che Harry legga quel messaggio, e non spiega perché.

Ma le lettere continuano ad arrivare: ogni giorno di più, da tutte le parti della casa, dalle finestre, dalle fessure delle porte. Zio Vernon diventa sempre più furioso e spaventato, fa di tutto per bloccare le lettere: chiude tutte le porte, copre le finestre, non lascia nessuno postino avvicinarsi.

Per sfuggire alle lettere, zio Vernon prende tutta la famiglia e scappa con loro in una casetta isolata, su una piccola isola, lontano da tutti. Pensa che così nessuna lettera potrà più raggiungere Harry.

Ma quella notte, mentre tutti dormono, arriva un forte bussare alla porta della casetta. Qualcuno sta venendo a trovare Harry, e i Dursley non possono più fermare quello che sta per succedere.

Chapter 3 – Letters from No One (Simple Description)

Harry’s life continues to be difficult with the Dursleys. His aunt and uncle always treat him badly, keep him away from everything, and don’t want anything strange to happen in the house.

One day, a letter arrives addressed exactly to Harry, with his name and the place where he lives (the cupboard under the stairs). It is a strange letter, written in green ink, with no sender’s name: it seems to come from nowhere.

Uncle Vernon sees the letter and gets very angry. He immediately takes it, tears it up, and won’t let Harry read it. He absolutely refuses to let Harry read that message and won’t explain why.

But the letters keep coming: more and more every day, from all parts of the house, through the windows, through the cracks in the doors. Uncle Vernon becomes increasingly angry and scared, doing everything to block the letters: he locks all the doors, covers the windows, and won’t let any postman near.

To escape the letters, Uncle Vernon takes the whole family and flees to a remote hut on a small island, far from everyone. He thinks that way no letter will ever reach Harry again.

But that night, while everyone sleeps, a loud knocking comes at the hut’s door. Someone is coming to find Harry, and the Dursleys can no longer stop what is about to happen.

Capitolo 4: Il custode delle chiavi (descrizione semplice)

È mezzanotte nella casetta isolata sull’isola. All’improvviso qualcuno bussa forte alla porta.

Zio Vernon ha molta paura, ma apre ugualmente. Entra un uomo gigante, alto e robusto: è Hagrid.

Hagrid vede Harry subito, lo saluta con affetto e gli dice che lui è un mago. Harry rimane sorpreso e non crede subito a quello che sente.

Poi Hagrid racconta tutta la verità: i genitori di Harry erano maghi, sono stati uccisi dal terribile mago oscuro Voldemort. Solo Harry è riuscito a sopravvivere.

Gli zii si arrabbiano moltissimo, insultano Hagrid e la magia, cercano di impedire a Harry di andare via. Ma Hagrid non si lascia spaventare.

Regala a Harry la lettera ufficiale di Hogwarts: la scuola di magia e stregoneria dove Harry dovrà studiare.

Infine Hagrid dice che il giorno dopo porterà Harry a comprare tutto l’occorrente per la scuola: bacchetta, libri, vestiti e altre cose magiche.

Harry è felice: finalmente scopre la sua vera identità e comincia a sognare la sua nuova vita lontano dai Dursley.

Chapter 4 – The Keeper of the Keys (Simple Description)

It is midnight in the isolated hut on the island. Suddenly, someone knocks loudly on the door.

Uncle Vernon is very scared, but he opens it anyway. A giant, tall, and robust man enters: it is Hagrid.

Hagrid sees Harry right away, greets him affectionately, and tells him he is a wizard. Harry is surprised and doesn’t immediately believe what he hears.

Then Hagrid tells him the whole truth: Harry’s parents were wizards, killed by the terrible dark wizard Voldemort. Only Harry managed to survive.

His aunt and uncle get very angry, insult Hagrid and magic, and try to stop Harry from leaving. But Hagrid is not intimidated.

He gives Harry the official letter from Hogwarts: the school of witchcraft and wizardry where Harry will study.

Finally, Hagrid says he will take Harry the next day to buy all his school supplies: a wand, books, clothes, and other magical items.

Harry is happy: he finally discovers his true identity and begins to dream of his new life far from the Dursleys.

Capitolo 5: Diagon Alley - descrizione semplice

Il giorno dopo, Hagrid porta Harry a Londra per visitare Diagon Alley, la strada magica nascosta nel centro della città, accessibile solo ai maghi.

Harry è incredulo: vede negozi di ogni tipo, vestiti magici, pozioni, libri di stregoneria e creature strane. È la prima volta che si trova nel mondo magico e tutto sembra fantastico.

Prima di tutto, vanno alla Grande Banca dei Goblin: i goblin sono i guardiani della banca e portano Harry e Hagrid in una cassaforte segreta. Lì, Harry scopre di avere una fortuna in denaro magico (zeloti, sickle e knut) lasciata dai suoi genitori.

Poi, Hagrid lo aiuta a comprare tutto l’occorrente per la scuola: un mantello nero, libri di magia, una caldaia per pozioni e altri oggetti. Il momento più importante è quando Harry va dal signor Olivari, il fabbricante di bacchette magiche.

Dopo aver provato diverse bacchette, Olivari trova quella perfetta per lui: una bacchetta di legno di tasso, con piuma di fenice. Scopre anche che questa bacchetta è legata a quella di Voldemort, il mago cattivo.

Infine, Hagrid regala a Harry un gufo di nome Hedwig: sarà il suo animale domestico e lo aiuterà a spedire lettere.

Quando esce da Diagon Alley, Harry è felice e emozionato: ha finalmente il suo materiale per Hogwarts e si sente finalmente a casa nel mondo magico.

Chapter 5 – Diagon Alley (Simple Description)

The next day, Hagrid takes Harry to London to visit Diagon Alley, the magical street hidden in the center of the city, accessible only to wizards.

Harry is incredulous: he sees shops of all kinds, magical clothes, potions, spell books, and strange creatures. It is the first time he has been in the magical world, and everything seems fantastic.

First, they go to Gringotts Wizarding Bank: the goblins, the bank’s guardians, take Harry and Hagrid to a secret vault. There, Harry discovers he has a fortune in magical money (galleons, sickles, and knuts) left by his parents.

Then Hagrid helps him buy all his school supplies: a black cloak, magic books, a cauldron for potions, and other items. The most important moment is when Harry goes to Mr. Ollivander, the wandmaker.

After trying several wands, Ollivander finds the perfect one for him: a wand made of holly wood, with a phoenix feather core. He also discovers that this wand is linked to Voldemort’s, the evil wizard.

Finally, Hagrid gives Harry an owl named Hedwig: she will be his pet and help him send letters.

When he leaves Diagon Alley, Harry is happy and excited: he finally has his materials for Hogwarts and feels at home in the magical world at last.

Capitolo 6: Il binario nove e tre quarti – descrizione semplice

Harry deve andare alla stazione di King’s Cross per prendere il treno per Hogwarts.

I Dursley lo lasciano lì, senza aiutarlo: non sanno dove si trova il binario 9 e 3/4. Harry è confuso e non sa cosa fare.

Alla fine incontra la famiglia Weasley: sono maghi anche loro e sanno come fare. Gli spiegano che per arrivare al binario segreto bisogna correre dritto contro il muro tra il binario 9 e il 10, senza avere paura.

Harry ci prova e attraversa il muro magicamente: appare il treno Espresso per Hogwarts, tutto rosso e pieno di studenti.

Salta sul treno, conosce Ron Weasley e Hermione Granger: diventano subito i suoi migliori amici. Insieme partono verso la scuola di magia Hogwarts, pronti per nuove avventure.

Chapter 6 – Platform Nine and Three-Quarters (Simple Description)

Harry must go to King’s Cross station to catch the train to Hogwarts.

The Dursleys leave him there without helping him: they don’t know where Platform 9 3/4 is. Harry is confused and doesn’t know what to do.

Finally, he meets the Weasley family: they are also wizards and know how to get there. They explain that to reach the secret platform, he must run straight at the wall between Platforms 9 and 10, without fear.

Harry tries it and magically passes through the wall: the Hogwarts Express appears, all red and full of students.

He jumps on the train, meets Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger: they quickly become his best friends. Together they set off for the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, ready for new adventures.

Capitolo 7: Il Cappello Parlante – descrizione semplice

Harry e tutti gli studenti arrivano a Hogwarts. Entrano nella grande Sala Grande, bellissima e piena di luci.

C’è la cerimonia dello Smistamento: ogni alunno prova il Cappello Parlante, che decide in quale Casa mandarlo: Grifondoro, Serpeverde, Corvonero o Tassorosso.

Ron e Hermione vengono smistati subito nella Grifondoro.

Quando tocca a Harry, il cappello esita un po’: vorrebbe mandarlo a Serpeverde, ma Harry non vuole. Alla fine lo mette anche lui nella Grifondoro.

Dopo lo smistamento inizia il banchetto di benvenuto con tantissimo cibo magico. Harry è felice: ha trovato la sua casa e i suoi nuovi amici.

Chapter 7 – The Sorting Hat (Simple Description)

Harry and all the students arrive at Hogwarts. They enter the Great Hall, a beautiful, brightly lit room.

There is the Sorting Ceremony: each student tries on the Sorting Hat, which decides which House to send them to: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff.

Ron and Hermione are immediately sorted into Gryffindor.

When it’s Harry’s turn, the Hat hesitates a little: it would send him to Slytherin, but Harry doesn’t want to go. In the end, it puts him in Gryffindor too.

After the Sorting, the Welcome Feast begins, with lots of magical food. Harry is happy: he has found his home and his new friends.

Capitolo 8: Il maestro delle pozioni (descrizione semplice)

Dopo il banchetto, iniziano le lezioni a Hogwarts. Una delle materie è Pozioni, insegnata dal professor Piton.

Piton è severo, antipatico e non ama Harry fin dal primo giorno. È molto duro con tutti gli alunni, specialmente con Harry e Ron. Ama la casa Serpeverde e favorisce sempre i suoi alunni.

Durante la prima lezione di pozioni, Piton mette subito alla prova tutti: spiega le regole severe, assegna punizioni per ogni errore e sembra sempre pronto a criticare.

Harry capisce subito che Piton è suo nemico e che la materia delle pozioni sarà molto dura per lui.

Chapter 8 – The Potions Master (Simple Description)

After the feast, classes start at Hogwarts. One of the subjects is Potions, taught by Professor Snape.

Snape is strict, unpleasant, and dislikes Harry from the first day. He is very hard on all the students, especially Harry and Ron. He loves Slytherin House and always favors his own students.

During the first Potions class, Snape immediately puts everyone to the test: he explains the strict rules, hands out punishments for every mistake, and always seems ready to criticize.

Harry immediately realizes that Snape is his enemy and that Potions will be very difficult for him.
