This course will help you to understand basic environmental concepts and clauses of ISO 14001:2015 EMS. ISO 14001:2015 EMS is one of the steps, your organization shall follow for ethical and socially responsible business. ISO 14001:2015 EMS is helpful for organizations in view of sustainable development. Environmental aspects relevant to each process of the organization need to be identified and their impact on environment need to be defined. Environmental impact can be described as Air pollution / Land pollution / water pollution. Controls to avoid these need to be decided and implemented. Another important issue in environmental management is that of compliance obligations. Country specific environmental legislations need to be studied and complied. These may include legislations related to air pollution / water pollution, handling of hazardous wastes, plastics waste handling, motor vehicle acts in view of vehicular pollution. Organizations can study relevant international protocols and apply those in their business processes. Emergency preparedness and response is one important part of EMS implementation. Most of the times consideration is given to safety emergencies. In ISO 14001 environmental emergencies need to be considered such sudden gas leakages, sudden discharges of liquid, actions which may disturb ecological balance etc.
