Description
THIS COURSE IS SUGGESTED FOR CHILDREN AGES 3-8. THIS COURSE SHOULD BE PURCHASED BY PARENTS AND GUARDIANS WHO WILL BE SUPERVISING THEIR LEARNING.
Irish Dance is for everyone. All are welcome and no experience is necessary. The course will provide all of the basic knowledge needed to get started in Irish Dance. This course provides an interactive fun experience for children as they learn Irish Dance basics and practice with accompanying characters. The class teaches proper technique and foot placement for Traditional Irish Dances such as "toes out", "cross feet", and tip toes. Dancers will learn the basic steps for the Irish Reel including sideways, jumps and skips. Dancers will learn the basic Irish Jig including the Jig beginning and Jig Ending. In addition, dancers will learn coordination, balance, rhythm and the basic style and characteristics which make Irish Dance a unique art form. Learning step patterns will also provide focus, improved listening skills and improved memorization skills for young children. Irish Dance is full of energy with jumps, kicks and skips. This dance style uses rapid footwork with crossed feet keeping to the rhythm of Irish music. Dancers will benefit from the many wonderful health benefits of Irish Dance. It provides a great aerobic workout, improves muscle strength and stamina and provides overall fitness. The class provides a great foundation for learning future Irish Dances. It is great fun! Give it a try. Suggested ages 3 -8.

Cannon Irish Dance has offered traditional Irish Step Dance instruction from 1982 through present with "In Person" classes in the Cleveland, Ohio area and now offering "Online" classes worldwide. Instructor Peggy Cannon began Irish Step Dance lessons in 1970 and won both the Mid-America and North America Championships in 1980-1982. Shaping the talents and values of children and young adults and sharing the artform of Irish Dance with all of it's health benefits provide Peggy with the rewards she seeks as an Irish Dance Instructor.
