This video contains information about the course and Instructor as well.
This is introductory video on what is Unicast, Broadcast & Multicast. Along with you will get some more details.
In this you will learn what Multicast protocols are used when traffic is exchanged between source and recipient.
Here you will learn four things, 1) IP addressing Multicast 2) Mac address format 3) Mac to IP address mapping in multicast 4) IP address to mac address mapping in multicast
You will learn about IGMP and it's 3 versions.
You will learn the difference between version 2 and 3. It is all about SSM i.e. source specific multicast.
Here you will know how to block the multicast group at Router level.
You will see why snooping is important and commands to validate the IGMP snooping.
In this lecture, you will learn about Multicast routing, multicast routing protocol, PIM Dense mode, PIM Sparse Mode.
Here you will see how easy it is to configure dense mode. I will generate multicast traffic and make host receive it. You will also learn the commands, (*,G), (S,G) entries, RPF and Flags
Here you will see how Sparse mode is configured on multicast routers, you will also see the formation of RPT and then switchover to SPT.
I will also be showing you debug outputs to show the PIM Register messages towards RP.
You will learn the Cisco Proprietary method of setting up Dynamic RP i.e. AutoRP. You will know the ways to resolve the issue which occur in AutoRP while using it with Sparse mode.
You will see how AutoRP functions with Sparse Mode, Sparse-Dense mode. You will also see how "ip pim autorp listener" command advertises the multicast sent to 224.0.1.39,40 to downstream routers.
This lab will show you how PIM Sparse-Dense mode works like Sparse when router knows about RP and how it falls back to Dense mode when router does not know about RP.
You will also learn to configure Rendezvous Point for each multicast Group.
In this you will learn the second method of dynamically advertising Rendezvous Point Information to other multicast enabled routers.
You will know the differences of BSR & AutoRP, additional options of BSR.
In this, you will see the configuration steps to run BSR in PIM enabled routers. I will be using Sparse Mode.
You will know why Designate router is elected in PIM. I will be discussing two cases when it is important. I will be showing wireshark outputs in this video. I have uploaded the config files for your reference.
You will see how this feature helps in avoiding duplicate multicast streams towards LAN segment or receiver. You can download the configuration files and the video.
It is very similar to what we did in previous lab of Reverse Path Forwarding. Addition thing is GRE Tunnel which we need to create in the case I showed because transit routers aren't running IP Multicast. This is very important that we know how to create/use tunnel and run multicast. RPF failure may occur in such cases, so go thru this.
Config of devices is attached ( last saved configuration)
In this you will get to know the technique of setting Multiple RPs with same IP address. You will then learn about MSDP which will help in advertising the (S,G) information to other RPs.
It is a theory lecture.
This will be the actual lab where you will see the implementation of Anycast using MSDP protocol. I will use 3 RPs with same IP address. After that I will use MSDP to form peering to advertise the (S,G) mroute to other RPs.
In this lecture, you will learn how this special flavor of PIM-SM mode helps in environment where there are 100s of sources and 1000s of receivers of multicast.
In this video, you will see how to run this PIM Bidirectional.
SSM is an extended version of PIM -SM which will not require need of Rendezvous Point. Receiver will have option to select the source for receiving multicast traffic.
This is a topic on IP Multicast which everyone wants to learn and grasp to be able use it in enterprise environment. However, there aren't many courses in the world due to it's complexity.
This course teaches you the fundamentals of IP multicasting, including multicast applications, sources, receivers, group management, and IP multicast routing protocols such as Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) used in the environment.
I have recorded this course for every networking students keeping in mind the requirements of setting Multicast in LAN & WAN.
Post this course, students will have confidence in this important topic which is often termed as very tough to understand & implement in the environment.
The course reviews the configuration and troubleshooting guidelines for implementation of IP multicast on Cisco routers on GNS3 Virtual environment.
