
In this module, you'll learn how to connect with your internal world of sensation and connect more deeply with your physical body.
You will need a yoga mat or rug to lie upon, and optionally a pillow or bolster to sit upon (and/or place under your knees).
I will talk just for a few minutes to introduce the content, and then you will lay down for a relaxing Awareness lesson. You might want a blanket close by to put over you as you can expect your body temperature to drop a few degrees as you fall into a deep relaxation state.
Set aside 30 minutes of contemplative time to complete this assignment. You'll need a journal and pen and chair or cushion to sit upon.
In this reflective journaling exercise, you will have an opportunity to learn about what your pain is costing you, what your body is getting out of having the pain, your fears, and much more. And we will end with a releasing technique.

In this Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson, prepare to lie down on a mat or rug and relax your nervous system as Shara verbally guides you through very simple movement sequences, all geared towards optimizing movement and function.

This Feldenkrais lesson will begin in sitting, and then progress to lying down on your back. This lesson will teach you how to "differentiate" your head from your torso, from your pelvis, from your legs.
In other words, your body will learn how to move more segmentally rather than as one. The end result of such a lesson is you will turn and twist with more ease and grace. You'll stand taller and more confidently. Your peripheral vision will open, and so much more.

What is Feldenkrais?
The Feldenkrais method® is an extraordinary somatic therapy that helps to adapt the nervous system towards its optimal state. Named after Moshe Feldenkrais, an Israeli jew (1908-1998), who developed the method to recover from a debilitating knee injury.
The focus of these lessons is on breaking up your habitual movement patterns and states of contraction (i.e. around the shoulder, jaw, and back), and replacing them with more of your innate way of moving, with grace and ease.
You are encouraged to use minimal muscular effort for each movement and listen inward for the subtle changes that occur in your bones, muscles, and joints. The method is great for easing body aches and pains and helping us to regain clarity, focus, and direction.
