What is this course about?
Advancements in medical and smartphone technologies have led to many technological innovations in the areas of telehealth and telemedicine, as well as mobile health (also known as mHealth). The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the pace of these innovations. Many healthcare providers are now using telehealth and mHealth technologies for their healthcare services. In addition, many healthcare organizations and start-up companies have moved into this space, enabling a plethora of mHealth apps, wearables, fitness trackers, remote monitoring devices linked to the internet-of-things , chatbots and telehealth systems, all of which aim to enhance patient care and safety. Telehealth and mHealth has evolved to a powerful virtual care resource that is accessible, affordable, and effective. In this course, you will gain an overview of what is telehealth and mHealth, how these fields have evolved since the COVID-19 pandemic, some of their advantages and disadvantages, as well as some of their application and research trends.

Instructor
I am a digital health strategist, healthcare innovator and an interdisciplinary cyberpharmacist researcher who has knowledge in digital media creation, web databases and data mining. My interests span the whole digital healthcare innovation cycle through the development, application and/or evaluation of digital health technologies in various healthcare settings to enhance health and medications management in patients. My work has been in the areas of e-databases, data mining, telehealth/mHealth, clinical predictive analytics, virtual reality, serious games, 3D-printed applications, and quality evaluations of healthcare innovations. I have over 100 journal publications, 4 book chapters, 1 book and presented my work at over 100 international conferences.
