Ethics is always of critical concern in any research project. In qualitiative research, we must be extra sensitive to what we are asking of our participants and how we interact with them.

Before launching into a research project, you will need to obtain appropriate permission to do so. This lecture focuses on the Institutional Review Board common at most Universities. If you do not work at a university, you may be interested in hearing about some of the permissions you need to obtain in general in order to conduct research. You are always responsible for knowing what regulations need to be followed to conduct you research.

Getting grants to fund your work is an important part of qualitative research. Learn more about funding and what to do if you have a great idea that cannot attract funding.

This lecture was designed for Assistant professors who engage in qualitative research and may have questions about the tenure and promotion process.
