Description
Pranayama is the expansion or extension of the life force or energy flow in our body. The first step towards building a pranayama practice that would last you a lifetime, is to build a strong foundation. Hence this course is a perfect place to start.
We will begin by understanding the meaning of pranayama, the parts of breath, the pranic body, the 5 types of pranas, the functions of the 5 pranas, impact of lifestyle on our energy flow and practices to regulate the same. Before we move on to our first practice, we will also understand the do's and dont's of practising pranayama.
The course compromises of 2 theory lectures and 6 practice lectures. Even though the course is self paced, I would urge you to complete every class without any interruption. Also stay away from any distractions while moving through a lecture to ensure full attention and a holistic experience.
Pranayama, like everything else in yoga, is experiential. So I would encourage you to go through the practical classes as many times as possible to deepen your experience and get more familiar with the practice. Also pay special attention to the benefits and limitations of each practice so that you can make the most of them in your daily life.
Pranayama should be a part of your self care routine. So while you may find yourself drawn to it during stressful and challenging situations , they are most effective when practised in a routine.
The course would require you to have a pen & paper handy to make notes, a quiet room or space to practice, a yoga mat or a rug to sit/lie on. Bust most importantly the course requires you to have an open mind and heart as we revisit the most basic and the most profound function of breathing in a whole new way.
Namaste!

Instructor
My yoga practice draws from the fact that yoga has been life changing for me. So it comes from a place of belief and experience. I believe yoga is for everyone and it is a way of living rather than just the asanas, pranayama or meditation in isolation. I found my purpose in making the joy of yoga more accessible to anyone who seeks to go on an exploratory journey to self.
I am certified by the yoga institute and also by inner dimension academy.
My practice focuses on aligning the mind, body & breath to create a holistic experience for the practitioners.
I am the founder of PurnaYog and also run a podcast on yoga under the name 'purnayog'. I am constantly striving to inspire you to take on the journey of yoga, a journey to self.
