Description

This course provides production, completion, and petroleum engineers with foundational skills to model wellbore hydraulics and optimize tubular configurations using the SLB PIPESIM steady-state multiphase flow simulator. Participants will learn to accurately dimension tubing and casing strings to achieve optimal production rates while maintaining flow assurance and well integrity.Through practical workflows, engineers will evaluate fluid properties, vertical lift performance (VLP), pressure drops, and velocity constraints across varied well geometries. The course it's subdivide in 6 module

1)Wellbore Geometry & Tubular Setup: Construct detailed well schematics in PIPESIM, defining casing programs, production tubing, liners, and surface equipment parameters (ID, OD, roughness, and wall thickness);

2) PVT & Multiphase Flow Correlations: Select appropriate fluid models (Black Oil vs. Compositional) and multiphase flow correlations (e.g., Beggs & Brill, Hagedorn & Brown, or mechanistic models) to accurately simulate pressure and temperature profiles;

3)Nodal Analysis & VLP Generation: Perform Nodal analysis at the bottomhole and wellhead to generate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) and VLP curves for evaluating tubing size impacts on deliverability;

4) Tubing Sizing & Velocity Limits: Conduct sensitivity analyses on inner diameters to prevent liquid loading in oversized tubing and erosional velocity or high friction losses in undersized tubing;

5) Casing Annulus Hydraulics: Model casing-tubing annular flow dynamics, pressure ratings, and gas-lift or annular injection performance;

6) Flow Assurance Constraints: Identify flow regime transitions, liquid holdup, and thermal performance to safeguard tubular integrity under varying production rates.
