Introduction to Masterminding

Masterminding has been around in business for over 250 years, during that time it has evolved and developed, from its early days as the Lunar Society through to todays think tanks and peer support groups. The good and the great have been involved over the centuries understanding and succeeding in areas where had they worked alone and in isolation they may not have been so successful.

There are ways that will work and ways that may not work for you - there is no one single way of working that is right for everyone - choose the way that works for you and take it from there. One overriding rule of all Masterminding in confidentiality - working according to the Chatham House Rules from 1927 - ‘When a meeting is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed’

Surrounding yourself with the right people who can add value to your business and you can add value to theirs is the objective of a Mastermind Group.

Joining a mastermind typically involves you being invited by the members or going through an application process. The other members need you just as much as you need them, so quality of experience and knowledge is crucial to all involved.

The once you are involved in a mastermind, that feeling of "being alone" while running your business is gone. The other members of the group turn into business advisors of sorts and vice versa.

Collaboration is the name of the game. You may find someone in the group that is a perfect fit to work on a project with you, or you may be the perfect person to help another member as well. The group works together collaboratively, to achieve more together.

Unlocking synergy can be so creative and enlightening, you never know where the next great idea is going to come from or exactly what it's going to be. An idea or concept that started as one thing will evolve, transform and change again. Potentially turning into something that's not even recognizable from what it started from, to the point it has nothing to do with what it started from but the seed was sown in the mastermind.

Ideas that come from the synergy of the group can be incredibly dynamic. Sometimes for only one person in the group… and sometimes for many or all the group. Partnerships can be formed, or new independent business can be formed. You just never know! Sitting at your desk on your own in your ivory tower just doesn’t breed creative thinking – the mastermind will add so much more to your scope, delivery and results!
