Bruce is a member of Australian and New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS) Committee EN001: Energy Management and Energy Auditing, where he represents the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating. On this committee Bruce has participated in the writing of AS/NZS 3598, 2014 Energy Audits, and the 2022 adoption of ISO 50001:2018 as AS/NZS ISO 50001:2022 Energy Management Systems. This committee, as with other national standards committees, is regularly invited to contribute to the standards and standards updates in the ISO 50001 series.
Bruce founded his first energy efficiency company in 2001, and over his career has provided energy advisory services, energy performance contracts delivering guaranteed energy and carbon savings, and carbon accounting services to government, commercial and industrial energy users. He is an in demand trainer and facilitator, to date delivering live in person workshops across 13 countries in Asia, Oceania and Latin America.
He delivers training for the Energy Efficiency Council and is an assessor for AIRAH (Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating).
Bruce is a regular guest lecturer at RMIT University and Melbourne University. He is a Level 4 instructor for the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) and is chair of their Extended Training Committee. He also provides energy efficiency online courses through his sustainability education website Sustemy.
