Use Number systems & codes for interpreting working of digital circuits.
Different types of Number System as follows,
Binary system,Decimal System, Octal Number, Hexadecimal
Types of weighted and non-weighted number system.
Non-weighted Codes-
1. Gray Code
2. Excess 3-Code
3. ASCII Code
In this lecture we covered Symbol, Truth Table & Logical Expression, truth table of basic gates(AND OR, Not), Universal gates (NAND & NOR), Special purpose gates (XOR, XNOR).
K-map reduction technique for the Boolean expression : Minimization of Boolean function up
to variables (SOP & POS form).
A Sequential circuit combinational logic circuit that consists of inputs variable (X), logic gates (Computational circuit), and output variable (Z). Combinational circuit produces an output based on input variable only, but Sequential circuit produces an output based on current input and previous input variables. That means sequential circuits include memory elements which are capable of storing binary information. That binary information defines the state of the sequential circuit at that time. A latch capable of storing one bit of information.
Asynchronous counters are those whose output is free from the clock signal. Because the flip flops in asynchronous counters are supplied with different clock signals, there may be delay in producing output. The required number of logic gates to design asynchronous counters is very less. So they are simple in design.

Introduction
In the present scenario most of the electronic equipment like computer ,mobile ,music system, ATM, Automation and control system are based on digital circuits which the diploma in computer Technology, Electronic engineering pass outs have to test them. the knowledge of Number system, basic logic gates, combinational & sequential logic circuits, using discrete gates as well as digital ICs will enable the students to interprets the working of equipment and maintain them. After completion of the course, students will be able to develop digital circuit based applications.
The power of Digital Techniques are used in industrial machinery, computers, microprocessors, house hold appliances, medical equipment, internet, e-banking etc. Here enable to assemble, design, test and troubleshoot logical circuits like:-MUX, DEMUX, COUNTERS, REGISTERS. Digital Techniques is foundation for knowledge of computers, Advanced Microprocessor and Embedded Systems.
