Student will understand three-level of database architecture.
Student will understand terminology of relational model; properties of database relations; identify Candidate Key, Primary Key, and Foreign Key; and understand the meaning of entity integrity and referential integrity.
Student will be able to use Entity–Relationship (ER) modeling in database design.
Student will understand data redundancy and identify functional dependencies.
Student will understand the purpose of normalization and employ normalization process.
Student will be able to understand data types supported by SQL standard and create a table and define integrity constraints using SQL.
Student will be able to employ the integrity enhancement feature in ALTER TABLE statements.
Student will be able to update database using INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE.
Student will be able to retrieve data from one table and retrieve data from multiple tables using SELECT.
