Liveby Tai Chi (System of Balance) is a unique and innovative Tai chi method that incorporates balance exercises and postures from different tai chi styles, Pilates, and Yoga that are adapted with the physiotherapy, medical knowledge, and scientific principles to be used in rehabilitation and wellness.
The system of balance works the static and dynamic balance. The balance training at all levels is a useful intervention in the rehabilitation of postural stability impairment as well as in training to improve performance. The Liveby Tai Chi “System of Balance” method, incorporates concepts of an evidence-based approach called Sensory Training (STM), which is defined as a progressive balance training program where the dose and progression of the balance challenges are taken into consideration.
Participants in our System of Balance tai chi classes love our unique method of teaching tai chi with body-mind exercises, balance, breathing, and tai chi postures and movements that are easy to learn and remember. Because everything is easier with balance!

This is an introductory course about the Tai Clinical Tai Chi System of Balance. In this course you will learn the history and evidence based of Clinical Tai Chi. You will learn some upper and lower body exercises for using in Clinical Tai Chi individual or group exercises.
The course content can be applied in different settings, such as private clinics, hospitals, long term care facilities, wellness centers, and community health centers. The system of balance works the static and dynamic balance.

Instructor
Dr. Mirella Veras works with neurological, pelvic floor, and orthopedic rehabilitation in Canada. She completed her physiotherapy equivalence at McGill University, Canada, and has a Ph.D. in Population Health from the University of Ottawa, Canada. She has postdoctoral studies in Rehabilitation Sciences at the Rehabilitation School of the University of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She has over 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist and researcher and author of several scientific publications, including co-author of several systematic reviews of the Cochrane Musculoskeletal and Cochrane Public Health Group.
Mirella Veras trabalha com reabilitação neurológica, saude da mulher e ortopédica. Ela realiza seus estudos de Pós-doutorado em Ciências da Reabilitação, na Escola de Reabilitação da Universidade de Montreal, Quebec, Canadá. Sua pesquisa é focada em telereabilitação e realidade virtual na área de neuroreabilitação. Ela possui mais de 15 anos de experiência como pesquisadora e autora de diversas publicações científicas, incluindo co-autora de várias revisões sistemáticas do grupo Cochrane Musculoskeletal e Cochrane Public Health Group. Dra. Mirella Veras também participa como voluntária no projeto da Unidade de Medicina Baseada em Evidências da Unesp em colaboração com a estratégia de tradução da Cochrane em suporte ao objetivo de tornar as evidências científicas acessível a todos, através da tradução dos resumos de revisões sistemáticas em várias linguas. Autora do primeiro livro de fisioterapia baseada em Evidências publicado no Brasil. Ela realizou sua graduação em Fisioterapia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba, mestrado em Saúde Pública pela Universidade Federal do Ceará e é doutora em Saúde das Populações pela Universidade de Ottawa, Canadá.
