Dr Edmond Locard proposed basic principle of Forensic science which states that "every contact leaves a trace"
Forensic scientists can work as Investigation officer, Forensic Engineer, Forensic psychologist etc.
Crime scene is actually a place where any illegal activity has taken place. It is classified in to three types: Indoor crime scene, Outdoor crime scene and conveyance crime scene

This course is based on introduction to forensic science and crime scene investigation. Forensic science is the application of scientific principles and techniques for imparting justice to criminals. Forensic science plays an important role in crime scene investigation, which is based on methods of protecting, processing and reconstruction of crime scene.
Crime in some form or other has existed since the beginning of human race. With advancement in Science and technology the concept of crime as well as methods adopted by criminals in its commission have undergone a phenomenal change. On one hand the intelligent criminal has been quick to exploit science for his criminal acts, On the other hand the police investigator is no longer able to rely on his old-aged art of interrogation, development of sources and surveillance to detect crime have also no place in a civilized society. In these circumstances, what can the police investigator turn to, except the developing science? It is in this context, Forensic science has found its existence. Its development has provided a powerful tool in the hands of the law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
This Course structure is designed as:
-First 5 lectures are based on introduction to forensic science
-Remaining 9 lectures are based on crime scene investigation
