Take a few minutes to walk around taking photos of up-close subjects (flowers, pets, your friend, your house, etc) and change the aperture for each photo.
Everyone's favorite part - how to control and create a soft-focus background.
For this practice session, it's important to choose subjects that are up close - say 3-5 feet away; otherwise you won't likely be able to see subtle changes in your depth of field.
My thought process as a professional photographer when deciding what settings to use.
