    Welcome to my fashion illustration class!

    In this class you will learn the basics of fashion illustration, I’ll show you step by step how to draw a fashion figure, create dynamic and interesting poses and we’ll be learning how to use watercolors along the way. 

    • I’ll show you step by step process of creating a fashion portrait and fun illustration 
    • We'll do some easy and fun exercises that will help you to create interesting poses
    • Then we’ll create a final fashion illustration on a watercolor paper

     You will be able to download 9 head croquis (fashion figure) that you can use as a template for your illustration and a reference with face proportions, but I encourage you to create your own because it's a very good practice.

    Practice drawing stick figures to warm up the hand and capture gesture on the balance line. Place shoulders, hips, and legs with simple lines to explore poses.

    Even if you never drew people before and creating portraits sounds too complicated, in the next few videos I’ll show you fun and easy ways to approach the process! These techniques will help you to bring your skills to the next level. Topics include:

    Master the side view of the face by mapping proportions with a 7 by 7 inch grid, marking thirds on the profile line, and practicing quick, confident sketches.

    Practice stylized eyes by starting with a simple eye shape, then shade the pupil, add light spots. Build shadows from the lid and lashes; exaggerate or simplify forms.

    Create an inspiration board by assembling a collage of favorite details from magazines, newspapers, old books, and online sources, with Pinterest as a primary resource to spark fashion sketches.

    Paint skin tones in watercolor by testing colors on a separate sheet, then mix yellow ochre, burnt amber, red, and burnt umber for light, shadows, and soft edges.

    Plan a pose from a reference image and paint a watercolor fashion illustration by layering skin tones, using one brush for varied lines, then add florals and splashes.
