The White Belt indicates a blank canvas, an absence of knowledge and experience, so when the belt ranking system was introduced, the White Belt was assigned to students with no experience and was promoted after about a year's worth of basic training. To some individuals, the start of their Karate journey will be a little intimidating, which is normal.
Definition of White Belt Mentality : The White Belt is the first belt, the beginner belt, and the idea is that at this point you are ready and willing to learn from mistakes and also from others, to obtain new skills and techniques. Having this kind of mentality at later stages is known as the White Belt Mentality.
"I keep the White Belt mentality that I can learn from anyone, anywhere, anytime." -George St-Pierre
"A Black Belt is a White Belt who never quits." -Renzo Gracie
