    Welcome to Inspired Watercolor for Beginners! You will be learning how to make a painting of sea shells in watercolor in this class. If you're new to watercolor, it is recommended to start with the Watercolor Mixing for Beginners course, as well as the Inspired Watercolor Prep Course. The skills you are going to gain are: 

    • How to mix watercolors
    • How to control the intensity of the colors
    • Determine how much color to mix
    • How to create textures in watercolors such as fine lines and soft shadows 
    • Blending techniques
    • How to control and let go of control of watercolor

    A few tips on what's good to know before starting the course. Replace your water frequently as needed, and rest assured that if your watercolors dry out you can simply replenish the water to revive them.

    Materials you will need:

    • Watercolor mixing tray
    • Jar of water
    • Watercolor tube paints (a set of 10-12 colors is ideal for the next class, Inspired Watercolor for Beginners)
    • Colors used: Ochre (or Yellow + Brown), Crimson Red, Brilliant Red (orange red), Viridian Green, Brown
    • Brushes: Round watercolor brush size 8 / Fine liner size 0 
    • Pencil (#2 or lighter, 2H / 4H)
    • Cold press watercolor paper (140#)
    • Test strips of watercolor paper
    • Tape and a board
    • T-Square or Ruler to draw frame
    • Sponge or towel
    • Hairdryer (optional)

  • This class is for beginners, no experience is necessary.
  • It is highly recommended to take the 'Watercolor Mixing for Beginners' and then the 'Inspired Watercolor for Beginners Prep Course' before this one.
