Cereal crops such as rice, wheat, maize, sorghum, barley, and millets play a vital role in ensuring global food and nutritional security. However, these crops are constantly threatened by a wide range of insect pests, both in the field and during storage, leading to significant yield and quality losses. This course provides a comprehensive, practical, and crop-wise understanding of insect pests and their effective management using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies.

Designed for students, researchers, agricultural professionals, farmers, and extension workers, the course focuses on the identification, biology, damage symptoms, seasonal occurrence, and control of both major and minor insect pests. You will gain in-depth knowledge of eco-friendly and economically viable IPM practices, such as the use of resistant varieties, cultural methods, biopesticides, pheromone traps, natural enemies, and safe chemical interventions.

Special emphasis is also given to storage insect pest management, including scientific techniques like sun drying, use of botanical oils, hermetic bags, fumigation, and pest monitoring.
