“You are your master. Only you have the master keys to open the inner locks.”
This course helps you to develop your inner self for success in life and leadership. This is an introductory lecture that gives you an outline of the course and how it will teach you more about yourself . This lecture will introduce you to the four disciplines ( 4D's) of Dispassion , Discrimination , Discipline and Desire and how developing these disciplines within yourself will help you to improve yourself physically, mentally , emotionally and spiritually. This will help you reduce stress, lead a better and more successful life and help you become a leader .
This course will give you both conceptual inputs as also practical meditation and visualisation exercises. Wherever applicable we have extensively quoted what modern scientific research says about some of the ancient disciplines of deep breathing , meditation , visualisation and such practices.
Appreciate why a combination of technological know-how, problem-solving, and critical thinking as well as soft skills such as perseverance, collaboration, and empathy are extremely critical
In this video, I take you through a guided meditation exercise on deep abdominal breathing ( which has been scientifically proven to be of great value) and a small meditation exercise . You can download this video and do this exercise everyday or as frequently as you would like to de-stress yourself.
Leadership has many many meanings and almost every person who has been successful has his or her own definition of leadership. In this lecture , we begin with a small exercise which looks at your perception of leadership and what you consider as winning attributes from people around you. We then examine what leadership qualities have been exhibited by successful people . We take two examples from the fields of business, politics and Spirituality.
In this lesson we summarise the attributes of leadership as exemplified by masters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela , Steve jobs, Bill Gates, Swami Vivekananda and the Dalai Lama, which is what we looked at in the last two lessons. We look at which of these attributes are internal to us and over we can exercise control if we spend understanding them and developing our abilities . We then go on and put them into specific buckets each of which we will explore in detail in the Intermediate Course . ( not part of this course but of you have found this interesting please enrol for the Intermediate level course)
In this section, we look at getting a deeper understanding of our Energy , Mental , Intellect , And happiness bodies. Indeed we are more than just our gross physical bodies and such an understanding is critical to take control of ourselves and prepare ourselves to function better in whatever sphere of activities we choose to involve ourselves in. This lesson forms the foundation of our exploration into the four disciplines for success that we had outlined in our lesson on attributes of leadership.
In this section we take you through a body scan. the body Scan otherwise called yogic sleep or Yoga Nidra helps one deeply relax. This technique is widely used and has been used extensively in the popular Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program.
This is the concluding remarks and an invitation to join the next level of the course . Apart from summarising the whole course , this has a very powerful and interesting meditation exercise at the end.
Give to the World the best you have and the best will come back to you”. This adage is very well known but is observed more in the breach than otherwise.
Good Intentions not-withstanding, many times we often fail to give our best for a variety of reasons. We struggle with achieving work-life balance, reducing stress and tension, taming our bad habits, controlling our emotions, maximizing our energy and upholding-our personal values in social situations. Achieving self-control and inner mastery holds the key for rising-above our challenges and giving our best whatever be the external situations and circumstances. It is not always possible to manage external situations especially in today’s times when chaos and change is the norm, it is the leaders ability to see what others can’t, remain cool in all situations and lead by example that differentiates between a leader and an also-ran.
“Inner Alchemy for Effective Leadership” shows you how to maximize your outer impact in life and leadership by pursuing inner mastery. You will learn how to use your time most effectively and gain mastery over your body, mind and intellect and most importantly how to lead a happy life. You will learn how to care for your body better, rein in your emotions – anger, fear, shame, guilt, etc. while sharpening and using your intellect effectively, cultivate self-discipline and manage to be effective expending the least amount of energy. This is based on effectively and consciously looking at 5 aspects of your life including physical, emotional, physiological processes (energy related), intellectual and managing one’s inner space.
While you do not have 100% control over your outer environment, there are choices you make every day that affect your performance, relationships, health and happiness. Mastering your inner Self enhances your awareness of these everyday inner and outer choices– in behaviours, thoughts and emotions – and then equips you with practical techniques for reshaping these choices so you can direct your energy in the best possible way in the service of your highest aspirations. This will also help manage “stress”, which is at an all-time high today.
Inner Alchemy will reveal to you how the path to success – to high performance and happiness – is as much about mastering your inner forces as it is about mastering the outer.
