Create a logo in Inkscape using line tools: freehand, straight, and curves, with smoothing and node editing. Zoom, select, delete, and close paths to shape your design.
Add and style text in Inkscape using the text tool, choose fonts like Kandur and Footlight, adjust color and centering, and use the control key to keep proportions when resizing.
Learn to fit text to a line in Inkscape by drawing curves, converting text to a path, and fine-tuning stroke and fill with node editing, scaling, and outline adjustments.
Center and align objects in Inkscape, draw ellipses, apply no fill with a stroke, scale with control and shift, then duplicate and add text on a path.
Create a 3D shine by duplicating shapes, using a white fill with a red guide, then combine paths, apply difference, and fine-tune a gradient that fades across the logo background.
Welcome to Inkscape Quick Start where you will learn to use Inkscape by creating actual projects. No long periods of going through tools and menus item by item. In this course, we’ll jump right in and start creating and learning. By the end of this course you will be comfortable using Inkscape and creating vector graphics. You will have created different styles of logos, used a logo to create a business card and created a mock-up of a logo in use.
I designed this course for people like me who don’t learn well when they are overloaded with information but find it easy to learn when they are doing and having fun.
The ideal student for this course is anyone who wants to get started quickly and learn to use Inkscape well. Or anyone looking for a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw
