Here is a preview and simple explanation of this course. It is designed for students who want to begin the journey of vector illustration and graphic design using Inkscape.
In this episode, students will learn how to navigate the user interface and create a page profile.
Students will learn to use the basic tools available in Inkscape. I will also explain the common terms used in vector graphics drawing.
In this lecture, we will choose the colors for the artwork. You will be able to use the Fill and Stroke menu and create and save swatches.
In this lecture, I draw the clouds and sun using the ellipses tool and spirals tool. I will also introduce you to the align and distribute menu.
Using the squares and rectangles tool, we will draw the back mountains. I will introduce you to the Path effects menu and the function Object to Path.
As I draw the lake, you will learn how to draw curves and strokes using the bezier pen tool. I will also introduce you to grids and guides.
In this lecture, I will draw a waterfall. In the process, you will learn how to use the transform menu and the spay object tool.
We draw the front mountains using the squares and rectangle tool. You will also learn to use a few path operations.
Check out the resource attached to compare with your drawing.
Create objects such as trees, birds, rocks, and shrubs. We will use the stars and polygons tool, the circles and ellipse tool, the rectangles tool, edit path by nodes tool.
Placing objects in the artwork. I will use basic functions such as group ungroup, Stroke to Path, and boolean operations.
Drawing buildings using the squares and rectangles tool and the transform menu. You will also learn how to edit settings in the global preference.
Placing buildings in the artwork. I will use basic functions such as group ungroup, and boolean operations.
In the drawing of a fence and bridge, you will learn more about the layers menu and the Stroke to Path function.
In this lecture, I delve deeply into one of the basic principles of design, contrast. I will adjust the colors used in the artwork using the Fill and Stroke menu.
When adding texture to the artwork to create depth, you will learn about the boolean operation intersection and the function Stroke to Path.
In this final lecture, I draw a turbine and introduce a few objects. I discuss more on an object's center of rotation and perspective drawing. Included as a resource is the final piece for comparison.

Have you ever wanted to master a software application?
My names are Joseph Iro.
Thank you for choosing this course. It is an honor to have you.
In this class, we will recreate this beautiful piece of artwork in Inkscape.
Inkscape is a free professional quality vector graphics software used by illustrators, graphic designers, and artists.
The course is for people new to Inkscape and graphic design in general.
During this course, you will learn how to use tools available in Inkscape, through a real-world practical project. From the beginning, we will work our way through, step by step, from navigating the interface to document setup, creating objects, and composition.
This course is structured, into two main sections.
Basics, with two episodes, and practical with fourteen episodes.
The first two episodes, meant for users new to this application, and the rest of the course is on the step-by-step, practical process.
The inspiration for this project came from a technique I discovered on how to learn and master a new software application.
Use an application you are interested in to replicate a project.
For example, if you are familiar with Inkscape and want to learn Affinity Designer, follow this class while using Affinity.
With commitment, you will find similar tools, new techniques, and possibilities to recreate this artwork. Your ability to learn and master is then highly improved.
A similar illustration was created in Adobe Illustrator by Mr. Sasi-Kumar, an excellent graphic designer and artist based in Singapore.
This artwork is perfect for home decor, wall art design, poster design, and motion graphics.
Join me as I take this journey to recreate this beautiful artwork in Inkscape.
So, let's get started.
