Master in-the-moment regulation to calm your nervous system when triggered, interrupt the snowball effect, and take responsibility for your own responses.
Explore five easy tools for in-the-moment self-regulation when triggered, including 5-4-3-2-1 grounding, box breathing, naming what's real, pause and return, and somatic release.
Demonstrates the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to interrupt the trauma spiral by naming five things you see, four you feel, three you hear, two you smell, and one you taste.
Practice the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to stay present in the moment during triggers, guided by steps to name sights, feels, sounds, smells, and tastes.
Practice box breathing to calm your nervous system when triggers occur, using a 4-4-4-4 pattern to signal safety and reduce shallow, rapid breaths.
Engage in guided breathwork with box breathing to regulate your body and notice where you feel relaxed and what shifts. Replay this exercise to deepen awareness and support healing.
Master the truth process to regulate your nervous system when triggered by infidelity. Name what is real to reengage the prefrontal cortex, distinguish feelings from facts, and heal.
Practice a guided pause and return boundary to regulate when triggered by infidelity cues. Use prepared phrases, visualize success, and return to calmer conversation.
Learn somatic release to regulate your nervous system after triggers by moving energy through tension and release, using quick moves like palm presses, shoulder squeezes, and full-body shakes.
Practice a guided somatic release to regulate your nervous system, using tension–and–release moves from palms and shoulders to legs and feet, ending with breath and awareness.
Choose the tools that work best for you, such as box breathing and somatic release, to stay grounded, build self-trust, and prevent escalation when triggered.
Learn to process triggers by staying with one emotional thread in a slow, looping sequence, distinguishing processing from rumination, releasing emotional charge, and healing the underlying wound through somatic awareness.
Apply daily stabilization strategies: healthy sleep, walks, time outside, movement, water and food, sunlight, prayer, music, and social time, to rebuild safety after infidelity and regulate your nervous system.
Infidelity and Betrayal Triggers
You can be having a relatively normal day when something suddenly brings the betrayal rushing back.
A text message, a place, a date, a change in your partner’s tone, or a memory that seems to come from nowhere can trigger intense emotions, intrusive thoughts, physical tension, and the feeling that you need to solve everything immediately.
One trigger can quickly become hours of spiraling, questioning, arguing, shutting down, or replaying the affair in your mind.
You may understand logically that the betrayal is not happening again in this exact moment, yet your body and emotions still react as though it is.
This course is designed to help you feel less controlled by those reactions.
Learn How to Manage and Process Infidelity Triggers
The course teaches two broad approaches.
1. Manage the Trigger in the Moment
When your nervous system is highly activated, it is difficult to think clearly, communicate effectively, or make wise decisions. That is why the first part of the course focuses on helping you regain control before the trigger becomes a prolonged spiral or destructive fight.
You will learn five practical tools that draw from evidence-informed approaches including nervous system regulation, sensory grounding, structured breathwork, emotional awareness, and somatic release exercises.
You will not be expected to use every tool every time. The goal is to help you discover which methods work best for you, so you have something concrete to rely on when a trigger hits.
2. Process the Triggers That Keep Coming Back
Calming yourself is important, but some triggers continue returning because there is unresolved emotional material beneath them.
In the second part of the course, you will learn how to work directly with one recurring trigger at a time without getting pulled into the entire betrayal story.
You will see realistic demonstrations, watch me use the process with my own example, complete a guided exercise, and receive a printable workbook you can use on your own.
The Same Process I Teach My Private Clients
This is not simply a collection of general advice about infidelity.
The exercises and processes in this course are based on the same practical framework I teach clients in my private one-on-one work when they are struggling with betrayal triggers, emotional flooding, rumination, and recurring painful reactions.
The course gives you a structured way to begin applying that process independently and at your own pace.
By the end, you will have practical tools for calming yourself when a trigger happens, preventing one painful moment from taking over your entire day, and beginning to work through the triggers that continue to carry emotional weight.
The goal is not to force yourself to forget, forgive, or “get over it.”
The goal is to help you feel steadier, more in control, and better able to move forward after infidelity.
