    Welcome to an In-Depth Study of the Minor Prophets! This is our first class of the series. Today we will be learning:

    • Who are the Minor Prophets?

    • What is the difference between a Minor Prophet and a Major Prophet?

    • 2 Ways to Interpret Prophecy

    • 7 Basic Principles to Understand the Prophets

    • Important Historic Events of the time

    • Apply what you have learned today in the Class 1 Application Assignment.

    Please begin by completing the following:

    1. Please watch the Class 1 Introduction Video. This will give an introduction and what to expect for Class 1.

    2. Click the link to open and watch the full youtube Class 1 Lecture.

    3. Print out, or Open on your desktop the Class 1 Worksheet in order to fill-in all of the blanks. This worksheet will be your study guide for the open-book Midterm.

    4. An optional video to help explain the role of the prophets in ancient times is "The Prophets" by the Bible Project.

    5. Review the Historical Timeline. This is a great easy-to-read resource to help understand who was king, who was the prophet, and who was the enemy on a clear timeline of events.

    6. Class 1 Application Assignment. How do we take the knowledge learned today and apply it to our everyday lives? Please complete and submit for grading.

  • Previous knowledge of the Old Testament is suggested, but not required. You will learn everything you need to know.

Description

This course is the study of each of the 12 Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. This will be an in-depth study of each chapter of the twelve minor prophetic books of the bible. It will explore the historical narrative of the fall of Israel and Judah, and the future promises of restoration. The purpose is to help each student to understand the necessity for judgment, God’s use of grace, and how the prophet’s stories and messages can still be applied for believers today.

Classes will include viewing pre-recorded lectures, and worksheets to complete after each class based on the videos. Each week there will be an application assignment to bring the lessons learned from each prophet into practical real-life situations.There will be an open-book Mid-Term Exam to cover the first 6 prophets and an open-book Final Exam to cover the last 6 prophets. All questions on the exams will be taken directly from the completed weekly worksheets.
