Description

The goal of this course presentation is for viewers to gain a deeper understanding of this capstone project and its purpose. This course highlights the key objectives of the doctoral capstone experience reviewing how to implement family guided routines-based intervention into a new setting. This course was designed to educate therapists, caregivers, teachers, and students on the key principles of family guided routines-based intervention and how to effectively implement this approach in the occupational therapy outpatient pediatric population.  Additionally, this course reviews the importance of caregiver involvement and carryover of occupational therapy skills to support children's overall development and independence in daily activities. This course reviews the importance of community engagement and how to increase knowledge on occupational therapy and family guided routines-based intervention in local communities. This course will outline how to build an effective routine. Furthermore, a fillable chart to build a routine will be reviewed as well as examples to support overall learning in a variety of categories, education designed for therapists to use this approach in their own practice and community, as well as videos, a podcast episode, and handouts designed specifically for caregivers to increase their understanding and ability to facilitate family guided routines-based intervention into their daily lives.
