Description

The field of Art therapy is an integrative mental health discipline that combines the creative process of art with psychotherapy. This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical frameworks and practical skills necessary for a career in art therapy.

Throughout the course my students

  • My students will learn about the history and development of art therapy as a field, exploring the diverse applications and benefits of using art as a therapeutic tool

  • My learners will gain knowledge of the different populations and settings where art therapy can be employed, including working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. In addition to theoretical and practical aspects, this course will emphasize the development of interpersonal and communication skills necessary for effective art therapy practice.

  • Students will learn how to establish rapport with clients, conduct assessments, and monitor progress in therapy through art interventions.

By the end of the course, students will have acquired a solid foundation in art therapy, understanding its role in promoting emotional expression, self-awareness, personal growth, and healing. They will be equipped with the necessary skills to work as art therapists in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
