What you'll learn

  • how to measure of length, volume, and time
  • how to increase the precision of measurement of length and time
  • how to determine the density of solids and liquids

Course content

1 section10 lectures1h 8m total length
  • Giriş: Basic Quantities and SI Unit System4:30

Explore physical quantities and the si base units, learning how length, mass, time, current, and temperature define volume, density, velocity, and acceleration.

  • Very Big and Very Small Numbers and Scientific Notation7:18

Identify significant figures with rules for non-zero digits and zeros between them, and learn to express large or small numbers in scientific notation with a mantissa between 1 and 10.

  • Measurement of Mass5:37

Measure mass using electronic balance, beam balance, and triple balance; learn kilograms, grams, and milligrams, and express mass in scientific notation and unit conversions.

  • Measurement of Time6:30

Explore how to measure time accurately using digital stopwatches and pendulums. Calculate the period by averaging total time over many oscillations to improve precision.

  • Measurement of Lenght4:05

Explore measuring length using tape measures and meter rules, and compare micrometers, calipers, and micrometer screw gauges for accuracy from millimeters to meters.

  • How to Read Vernier Calliper10:34

Explore how to read a vernier caliper by combining main scale and vernier scale readings to determine total measurement in centimeters and millimeters, and improve measurement accuracy.

  • How to read Micrometer Screw Gauge6:57

Learn to read a micrometer screw gauge by combining the sleeve and thimble scales to obtain precise measurements in millimeters, with practice on multiple examples.

  • Measurement of Area3:42

Learn how to compute area as a derived quantity for rectangle, square, triangle, and circle using length, breadth, side, base, height, and radius, with practical numeric examples.

  • Measurement of Volume6:33

Learn to calculate volume for cubes, rectangular prisms, and cylinders using standard formulas, and determine irregular object volumes via water displacement with a measuring cylinder and overflow can.

  • Density13:02

define density as mass per unit volume and use g/cm^3 or kg/m^3. compare water, aluminum, gold, and silver to identify substances and solve density problems by mass and volume.

Requirements

  • Students need to know important of measurement

Description

Students will be able to measure length, time and mass.

They will be able to use vernier calliper and micrometer screw gauge to get more accurate results for measuring length.

They will be able to measure period of pendulum for measuring time more accurate.

They will comprehend how to measure mass with less error.

They will learn fundamental quantities and how to define other quantities with basic ( fundamental) quantities.

They will be able to calculate  area and volume. They will divide calculation of volume into two section which are irregular object and regular object.

After they learn how to measure mass and volume, they will be able to calculate density of object.

Students will be able to measure quantities with their units and understand SI unit system.

For IGCSE, We covered Chapter 1 already. Our aim is complete whole IGCSE curriculum.
