Description

Welcome to my course, a course for beginners and intermediate level people.

My name is Madalina and I am an icon painter by profession, with an experience gained in 26 years.

If you are interested in painting and you are a spiritual person, this course is suitable for your taste. I will guide you step by step until the end of the course, when you will get all the knowledge needed to paint icons on both wood and stone.I will reveal to you my tricks, which make the painting look special.

Icon painting is a meditative, prayerful, and somewhat ritualized art form, in which the materials and processes as well as the image have symbolic meaning. God's whole creation gathers to create the icon, in the form of the all- natural animal, vegetable, and mineral products used for the board, gilding, painting, and oiling.

To put it another way,  icon figures were represented in a manner that emphasized their holiness rather than their humanity. As part of this, Icon art observes certain rules of composition and colour, which are designed to reinforce the theological message. Almost everything contained within the icon image is essentially symbolic.

I have attached a PDF file in which you will discover what materials I use and everything you need to create the 2 icons presented in the course.
