Description

Agile project management becomes more and more important, but after the initial hype, its weaknesses and downsides become more obvious.

Companies have started to realize that it's not "the holy grail", that solves all project management related challenges and they're looking for individual solutions for their particular projects.

Companies and project managers are looking for a better integration of agile techniques into standardized company processes, like formal project approvals, or resource and portfolio planning. They also need a better balance of reliable mid to long-term plans without compromising too much flexibility to quickly react to changing market situations or customer requirements.

Hybrid agile projects (also known as "Scrumbut", "Waterscrum") have the potential to be that solution.

Hybrid agile projects try to combine the best agile and traditional project management elements to create a unique solution for today's projects.

The challenge:

Combining Waterfall and Scrum sounds easy, but can get really complex. Hybrid agile project management requires a solid understanding of agile and traditional project management to avoid confusion and absolute chaos.

It is much more than just combining two project management approaches, as different roles, events and ideas collide.

This is what students had to say:

  • Great course! The presentation and flow of topics were great. Especially, Section 4 and 5 are highlights of this course with clear and simple explanation of topics which gives you crystal clear clarity on Hybrid Agile Project Management. (S. Balijepally)

  • Very interesting training, Good presentation and recourses. Explanations on topics where broken down and simple to understand. Would recommend. (E.J. Ferguson)

  • Though I appreciate some of the earlier sections as a good refresher, Section 4 onwards was truly exceptional! Very grateful for the concise and clear explanations and breakdowns of how hybrid approaches can be adopted at each phase. I tried a few other courses on practical project management and I honestly think despite the higher ratings on the other courses, this course by far made the most sense to me realistically speaking and is the only one that really delved into and gave practical guidance on hybrid project management. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in project management whether you favor or mainly use either traditional or agile because for how short this course is, it covers very well the pros and cons of each approach and gives you a better arsenal of tools to best tailor the development approach your project needs. Thanks for an amazing course Neils! It has definitely exceeded my expectations. (M. Leong)
