This online course focuses on the academic writing of the essay or research paper. It does so in a way that highlights key points and makes concepts easy to understand. The target student is a student who has English as a second or foreign language but anyone is invited to take the course. This online course includes an underlying theme of technology simply because we are living in the fourth industrial revolution and students at some point will have to consider the ideas presented in their everyday lives. This course contains 15 lessons that include hints and tips to help make the research writing process easier. Lessons included in the course cover the core topics of writing a thesis statement, introduction, body paragraph and conclusion as well as additional essentials like writing in academic voice, choosing credible sources, incorporating evidence and counterarguments into one's paper and so forth. Examples are given in most sections to give the student an idea of how to apply the concepts that have been given. Video lessons are short. No main or overall assignment is given as the student is expected to apply all the concepts covered in their own personal academic lives and their own academic assignments they are busy with.
