Overview:
I strongly urge you to consult a tax professional for filing your taxes.
My objective here is to inform you of the deductions available and to review "avoiding a tax bomb" with loan assistance.
One ESSENTIAL distinction that is not usually discussed is taxes and loan forgiveness options. While I include them in the notes of my scholarship database, I really need to stress that, unlike with PSLF, you have to pay your taxes on money from the Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program.
How you file will greatly impact future financial aid. There are also many considerations based on your personal demographics, i.e. are you being claimed as a dependent on your parent's taxes? Are you single or married?
For NURSING STUDENTS:
Review the article. Deductions are related to student loan payments primarily.
For NURSES:
As a healthcare professional, understanding tax deductions can help you save money on your taxes. Here are some tax deductions available for nurses:
Uniforms and work-related clothing: You can deduct the cost of uniforms and work-related clothing that you must purchase and maintain yourself.
Continuing education: If you attend conferences, workshops, or other educational events related to your job, you may be able to claim a deduction for the cost of tuition, travel, and lodging.
Licenses and certifications: You can deduct the cost of renewing your nursing license or obtaining additional certifications.
Travel expenses: If you travel for work-related purposes, such as visiting patients or attending meetings, you may be able to claim a deduction for your transportation and lodging expenses.
Home office expenses: If you work from home, you may be able to deduct a portion of your home office expenses, such as rent, utilities, and internet service.
Remember to keep detailed records of all your expenses and consult with a tax professional to ensure you are claiming all the deductions you are entitled to.

As a highly qualified healthcare professional, I completed my Master’s degree in Public Health prior to completing my accelerated Bachelors of Nursing degree. With my concentration in Healthcare Management, I completed courses in finance and accounting. Additionally, I worked as a healthcare data analyst.
Then I went on to nursing school and was drowning in debt along with my cohort. I learned how to negotiate financial aid, and got my nursing school to pay for my last semester at over $20,000. I have employed these negotiation skills to triple my salary in my 2+ years being out of nursing school; using the extra income to create my own debt payoff plan.
My education and experience have equipped me with the financial management skills needed to excel in my field. That's why I created my course, How to Pay for Nursing School, to teach you these skills. Additionally, you will learn how to:
Minimize debt: Learn how to pay for nursing school with minimal debt.
Increase income: Discover strategies to increase your income as a nursing student during and after school.
Secure your future: Gain the skills and resources to prepare for a successful career as a new graduate.
Nursing school is stressful enough. Paying for it shouldn’t be.
