  • Part 142:19

We will start part one by drawing out the bird and will then get cracking on the painting process! We will complete the eye and add the first layer of crimson to the face.

Have a go with this lovely little bird.  One of my favourites not just to paint, but also to watch in our garden.

All your questions are more than welcome.
    Paul :-)

  • Part 234:55

We will start part two by adding some of the body wash foundation colours. We will then be completing most of the head, the highlights will be added later.

We will work with wet in wet washes and light blending. I will show you how to create the fine details within the eye and on the head feathers.

Let me know how you are getting on, I would love to know.

    Paul :-)

  • Part 335:28

We will start part 3 by really getting involved in the feather details.  I will guide you through using my layering technique.

We will start to see the Goldfinch coming to life as we create the shape and form using directional lines for the feathers.

How are you doing so far?

    Paul :-)

  • Part 438:15

In part 4 we will complete most of the detail within the Goldfinch.  These include the body (other than highlights), painting the legs and feet and fine tuning some of the tail feathers.

How did you get on painting the legs?

    Paul :-)

  • Part 548:21

In part 5 we will complete this lovely little Goldfinch by adding watercolour white for the highlights.  We will also add washes to the branch and finally all the details for the wood itself. We will then have a completed painting!

I would love to see your completed painting and hear how you got on with my Goldfinch tutorial.

    Paul :-)
